How does this "paid to write" gig work?

I see this Narrative.org thing being pushed on Facebook and other places, and I’m wondering how(if) it works. Who pays me to write, what is it I have to write to get this money, and how much can I get? It seems rather pyramiddy to me, but I’m willing to be enlightened.

Never heard of this til now but poking around on the site, it looks like I could join up and start a Niche on a topic I’m interested in like hats or programming. I’d write articles on my topic and link to other articles on the topic. Other people who are interested in hats or programming can follow my niche and write their own stuff on the topic. Narrative promises then to share out revenue it’s earned with the Niche owners and content creators who’ve written or curated the material that has driven traffic to the site. I assume the goal is for initial payments to be made out of investor money and then ad revenue once it gets going.

It’s a new content platform. It advertises itself as a solution to numerous issues with the current platforms and their integration with social media. It’s not yet open.

I signed up to join the alpha, just out of curiosity. I’m the 138th out of 500 needed to finish round 25. Which I assume mean there is currently 12,000 alpha users registered.

I have no idea what kind of revenue they contemplate, and if it’s going to be all advertising based, or if they are taking on patreon while they’re at it.

It looks like you’ll be paid withsomething called NRVE which seems to be only usable within the organization.

Currently there are almost 47 million NRVE in circulation, and each one has a value of $0.010497 on the open market.

Not quite. You suggest a niche topic. Members vote whether to approve it. Once your niche is accepted, you have to bid against other creators to buy the niche. The opening bid is $75. It says, “Niche Owners are eligible for 10% of the overall Narrative Rewards.” I don’t know whether that means you get 10% of the revenue - excuse me, rewards - that your niche generates, or if all the niche owners divide up 10% of the total revenue.

TL;DR - Write for the love of writing, not for money.

It’s nonsense. Vaporware designed to generate content from suckers.

They actually connect you with sites that need content and will pay by the piece. During hard times I’ve fallen back on this and made real money doing it full time for several places at once. But you’ve got to be able to write or it won’t last.

Is there any way to check if this is true?

Here’s Narrative’s FAQ page explaining how NRVE works, and here’s the link that page sends you to so you can check on NRVE’s current value.

Which I see this morning is slightly lower than it was last night.
