How far do you live from Lebanon, Kansas?

distancefromto.net ~ 1300 miles
however, driving distance (google maps) is ~ 1650 miles

Driving from Madison, WI about 651 miles, more than half of it on I-80.

So, have we picked the date for the Lebanon Dopefest?

Topeka would have more housing options, things to do and see, and isn’t all that far from Lebanon, 203.8 miles. And we would have an onsite organizer!

If we need other sites to see during the Lebanon Doperfest then just a few miles away one can find the cabin where where the poem that became “Home On The Range” was written. The unofficial anthem of the American west began right there.

Since Lebanon, KS, is closer to the North-South borders than to the East-West ones, It might make some sense to draw a big circle around Lebanon to establish “comfortable driving distances” for those wanting to make the trip. It would also be a first step in setting a “close to” and “far from” perimeter.

Looking at my map of the Lower 48, I chose two cities as close to Due North and Due South as I could and checked their mileages and times from Lebanon.

Since you can’t go much farther north than Grand Forks without leaving the states, roughly 60-70 more miles, how does 700 miles sound for the radius of that Big Circle? Or would a 10 hour drive time sound more reasonable?

Other ideas?

Until we narrow it down more, I’ll gather the posts of those within 700 miles just to have something else to discuss.

No, you still have me beat. I uses my ZIP code, and entered Lebanon as the ending point. I came up with 203.8.

So MED is still in the lead?

Who did I miss who is inside 700 miles?

Here’s a graphical representation of the 700 mile radius from Lebanon, KS:

To play with it yourself, visit Radius Around a Point on a Map

The discrepancy, if any, between distances calculated with the link in the OP and places within the green circle, can most likely be arributed to road mileages differing significantly from line-of-sight mileages.

At any rate, it’s fun to see how much of the USA is outside the 700 mile circle.

1389.3 miles

13,444 km、112 days 12 hours

MT-200 E

Note: Not all of the roads allow pedestrians. You think?

1,324 mi, 22 hours 47 mins from my little dot in southern Maryland.

I’m guessing that this post was intended for this thread (from Thread: How far do you live from the nearest state (country) line?)

Dunnow, Rand McNally isn’t talking to people who live closer to Lebanon than to Kansas.

Google Maps says it can’t give me a route. Is there a way to get it to give me the straight line distance, other than measuring it myself on a piece of paper?

I’ve tried searching for other tools but the ones I find don’t work.

A few decades at least.

698.3 miles.

I didn’t test it myself, but this might work for you.

If Lebanon, Kansas doesn’t qualify as a large enough town, you could use nearby points of Concordia, Salina, Topeka or Kansas City to get in the ballpark and then use that other link (in the OP) to get from Lebanon to whichever other town worked.

Yo! You slipped in under the 700 mile limit!

Distance: 4955.1 miles 7974.5 kilometers 4305.9 nautical miles

I’m impressed, I didn’t even need to pick Barcelona. Both Lebanon, KS and the small town I’m really in are listed.

Amazing! So, will you be heading to the as-yet-to-be-determined Dopefest at the Center of the USA?

1777 miles - still in the Lower 48.

I guess I’m really not in Kansas, Toto.

Eh, half and half. I got confused as to where the tool came from, but the actual distance I measured was relevant to this thread.

Interestingly, the radius tool I got in the other thread, and this latest tool you found, agree very well. the point to point calculator comes out to 525.6 miles, while my drawing a radius centered on Lebanon and stretching out to split Madison showed a distance of 525 miles.
