How far do you live from the place you were born?

~590 miles as the crow flies.

Maybe a 100 miles.

I had to look it up on Google Maps, but I knew it was close: I live 650 metres from the (former) hospital I was born in, in a little village that then had the nearest hospital to the village my parents lived in and I was brought up. I moved around a bit in my life in the vicinity, never farther than 15 km, and somehow landed at this place 12 years ago.

I had to do the math. I hope I’m not here in 100 years. Life now i s bad enough.

Live somewhere else and born in Nowhere USA. 315 miles by automobile.

Google maps says a little over 8 miles.

325.8 miles is the shortest driving distance given between Cleveland, Ohio, where I was born in 1959, and Lafayette, Indiana, where I now reside.

Lafayette, IN to Aptos CA.
2298 miles

According to Google Maps, 288 miles from my door to the hospital I was born at (Methodist Hospital in San Antonio).

About 350 miles. I spent the first half of my life within 50 miles of my birthplace and the last half (to date) 350-500 miles from it.

750 meters (less than half a mile) from the hospital where I was born, which is in the next suburb over from my home.

453 driving miles from San Jose to La Jolla via I-5 (but 519 miles by my preferred route via 101 and Malibu)

405 miles ATCF

Similar situation as me. Now I am 4.7 miles away from where I was born, but lived as far as almost 5000 miles from there (when I lived in Hungary for 5 1/2 years.)

Born in New Orleans and now I live on the Northshore which is about 30 miles away.

Maybe some time when I have free time I’ll list all the distances and try to plot a chart of average distances.

Me: 137 miles according to the shortest distance on Google Maps. The furthest away I ever lived was just under 500 miles.

Juneau, Alaska to Portland, OR: about 1,000 miles as the crow flies and 1500 by road. When I lived in Uganda, it was over 8,000 miles.

Around 450 miles , born in NJ , now in NC

2349 miles, as the crow flies.

About 50 miles. Born on the south side of Chicago, now live in a far western suburb.

Looks like I’m not the record, but I’m pretty close. 1.9 miles by road. By crow, it’d of course be a little less, but not by much: It’s a pretty straight route. My childhood home is a few blocks further.

The hospital itself is closed now, so I instead got directions to the library across the street. Which has nearly as much claim to being my “childhood home” as the house itself does.
