I have to get out more…never knew wireless video senders existed.
If I have a TV connected to the cable box downstairs and another separate TV upstairs, can I actually use the cable remote to change channels on the upstairs TV? I’d have a video sender unit attached to each TV.
Or would a sender unit be attached to the cable box downstairs and the other unit to the TV upstairs?
I’m trying to wrap my brain around how the cable remote would work for the upstairs TV.
If this actually works, can anyone recommend a good product?
You’d need a remote control extender in addition to the video sender. The transmitter of the AV sender gets plugged into the AV outputs on the back of the cable box downstairs, and the receiver unit gets connected to the AV inputs on the back of the upstairs TV. The remote control extender also comes in two parts: a transmitter which receives the IR signal from the remote and turns it into an RF signal, and a receiver that sends an duplicate IR signal to the device being controlled.
In all onesty, my experience with these things is that the video quality is nowhere near a hardwired installation, plus you lose the ability to watch separate channels upstairs and downstairs. On the other hand, it’s fairly easy to set up. I’d wire it, but that’s me.
I have 3 sets hooked up to digital cable using 2.4ghz wireless audio/video transmitters. The sound/pictures are flawless! Superb.
Is it possible you have something in your house causing interference? Even slight interference can diminish their performance.
I bought the Leapfrog WaveMaster 20 LF-20S by Terk and the Leapfrog remote extender LF-UNIV by Terk.
Oh my…ain’t technology grand!
The picture is perfect on the upstairs and downstairs TVs.
The remote extender is a little goofy because you have to velcro the thing to the remote. I’ll probably replace that with the 2 unit kind.
Thanks, Q.E.D. and pkbites.
This saves me a lot of work trying to pull cable through walls.
