Wireless coax transmitter/receiver?

I’m wondering if there exists a wireless coax transmitter/receiver unit for my tv? As it’s currently situated, we have a lot of cable running under carpeting and along walls, and I was trying to figure out ways to get rid of that, and I thought of wireless solutions. Like, is there a device I can attach the cable wire to, then a receiving device I can attach to the back of my tv set?

If this exists, is there a unit with multiple receivers, for use all over the house?

Thanks

This thing seems pretty close. I have not used it so I can’t give you an opinion on it’s quality but it seems such devices do indeed exist. It looks like you are limited to watching the same channel the sending unit is connected to though.

Can’t say that it is readily available right now, but according to WIRED it should be here within a year.

What ever happened to the VCR Rabbit? IIRC, you could plug a VCR into it, and the Rabbit would broadcast it on a UHF channel

Just don’t say “the rabbit died”

I have a wireless video transmitter & receiver, that I got for $70 or so at Target. I bought it to transmit the output of my tivo from the family room to the home office. It worked, but the signal conflicts with my wireless router, so I had to turn off the wireless router when I wanted to watch TV.

I ended up just running a coax. One night of frustration, then you’re golden!

I actually have this unit. It works pretty well, but it transmits in the 2.4 GHz range, so microwaves and wi-fi interfere with the signal. If you have a 802.11 wireless device, you don’t want this.

I have a LeapFrog from Terk. It works in the 802.11 range, too, as well as supports IR transmissions (so your control works).

It’s hooked to our reciever, so that we can access the TiVo and anything else from the living room in the bedroom. It works supurbly. Except… once in a while it works crappily. Could be whenever the neighbor uses a microwave (we’re closely situated). It could be someone hacking my LinkSys wireless box. But whenever I’m not using the laptop in bed, it pretty much works great.

Given that, as soon as we close our new house in a couple of days, I’m going to run everything hard-wired above the basement ceiling. But… the Terk will still be used to support the remote control!
