How good of an eye for colour do you have?

I am feeling less happy with my 27 now. :frowning: I blame my work monitor which is kind of crap.

8, Female, 25. Taken while at work, so a little rushed. Seemed to be around 85th %ile for my age group. Not bad. Still can’t color coordinate, though…

Female, 47.

I got an 8 and a headache.

Actually, I was a major Anglophile in junior high (owing in part to actually having some close friends from the Isles) and it’s a habit I just never lost. Meh. Sorry.

I got a 4. Female, age 37. Thanks for posting that neato link! I’ve been told by interior decorators and clothing salespeople that I have a very good eye for color but it’s nice to have independent confirmation.

Male, and I got a 790.

Wow. I’m pleased with myself. The green to violet was the hardest for me. Fun quiz.

I got a zero.
It all looked very, very obvious to me. Could it be my computer’s color resolution?

But, does all Kool-aid and candy taste the same to you? A good friend of mine (truly colour blind) says he has never noticed a difference in kool-aid flavours. It’s actually become a running joke in my circles “all kool-aid tastes the same if you’re colour blind” is just another way of saying “doesn’t matter, you pick.”

I scored a 3.

I’m female, in my twenties. I can do gradients thanks to painting class, but I still have no color-coordination abilities. I have a wardrobe of black and denim.

I got a 29. I’m female and 43. It kind of gave me a headache and was a little frustrated by it.

I started it and quickly realised that my cheapo monitors were making it much more difficult.

Unfortunately, I gave my 22" Iiyama CRT away.

Doubtful; I think you’re just very, very good at seeing slight differences in color.

Female, 26, and I scored a 27.

I wouldn’t discount the effects of a crappy monitor.

I’m quite certain that in each color range, there were quite a few groups of 2-3 blocks that were alike. In other words, 3 blocks would look the same, then the next 3 blocks would be the same as each other, but noticeably different from the group before.

Was each color block supposed to be different? Because if they were, then the way the colors were coming out on the monitor definitely was playing a role. I’d love to do this sort of test with real color cards under controlled lighting conditions. It would certainly be more accurate.

Nevertheless, it was a neat test. Thanks for posting it.

I scored 12. I know I could have done better if the sun wasn’t coming in through my blinds.

Female, 52.

Fun and easy for this painter. waves to all the other zeros We rule!

I think monitors have a lot to do with it – I tried it again on my other monitor and scored a 2. I do find it funny, though, because I prefer the colour settings on the right-hand monitor (the one I used originally).

You have perfect color vision!

It took a lot of swapping chips back and forth, and being blessed with a two-monitor desktop, I looked at the swatches on both as the color balance of each monitor is a bit different. I also alternated eyes as the color balance of my eyes is also a bit different between the two.

If you have good color vision, it will be readily apparent if any given trio of chips is in the wrong order. If you don’t, well, I’ve got a black and white TV that I’m trying to sell. :stuck_out_tongue: You either have it or you don’t - I don’t think it’s something that can be learned.

Perhaps I should get a job mixing paint.

Female, 21, with a craptacular laptop monitor.

I got a six. My mistakes were clustered in the middle of the muddy reds and the muddy turquoises. I wish the site would tally the most difficult sections so that we could see where our eyes have trouble discriminating. Perhaps we could keep track of that in this thread.
