How gruesome is the movie "Sleepy Hollow"? (unboxed spoilers)

The decapitations are not bloody. The blade is hot and cauterizes the wound so there is very little blood loss.

There is a close up look at a body with no head as Depp studies the opening.

The bits where he gets loads of blood on him. (tree of death, autopsy) are IMHO funny, not gorey.

There is a bit where he visits a witch and she cuts open a bat so she can see the future in it’s blood.

I really liked this film and actually own it. Deep is fantastic as Ichabod Crane. You should note that it is loosely based on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Very loosely.

Amen. I’d sooner sit through a 6 hour loop of exploding chests and alien goo. Scarface is one of the few movies I walked out in the middle of.

Goodness, I’ve seen the movie something like five times, and I must be desensitized to it; I’d either forgotten these scenes or not remembered them half as gory as everyone is tell me. Odd that I could have forgotten Brom being hacked in two: it leads to my favorite scene later…

Here’s the nitpick that’ll prove I’ve seen the movie far too many times: Crane explains that there was no blood at all, indicating a sword so hot it would cauterize the wounds–except that there was no burnt flesh (which later proved that the sword was heated with “the fires of Hell.”)

Sorry if I sounded snooty; I didn’t mean it! And I hope I’ve not ruined anything for anyone!

Bryan Ekers, you make it seem like watching Depp faint is a bad thing.

Just don’t rent “From Hell”.

Slight hijack for “From Hell” – I watched a few minutes of it once; is the nudity at pretty much the same level through the whole thing? I love the idea of the movie, I just don’t need quite so many boobs to get the point across.

Here, this tells you about everything in the movie “From Hell”:

Heh, I think that’s a bit more realistic than screaming and shrugging it off. I know, if I was faced with the kind of scenes faced by your average character in a gory slasher flick, I’d puke (Actually I did puke after watching a particular gore-fest, but that might have had more to do with having a migraine at the time). I guess characters in these flicks have to get over their revulsion in order to save their lives.

So pugluvr, did you ever watch it?
