The White House quietly removed the Vietnam War MIA flag from the top of the White House. Possibly in violation of federal law.
Can’t fly a flag that recognizes the suckers and losers who were (1) so dumb they went to Vietnam and (2) too dumb to leave once they got there. In fact, they’re so dumb they’re still there!
The only reason Vietnam POW flags are still flying is bureaucratic entropy. Anybody unaccounted for from the Vietnam era has probably died of old age by now.
But jeez, these guys are really not good at managing optics. This is not a good week to further annoy vets and the military.
Their optics are the best. That’s what people are saying.
In which case, the POW/MIA Accounting Agency wants to bring their remains home.
Would’ve been worse to wait a week.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day 2020 in United States
Shhhhh! Don’t remind him ffs!
Please! HE will restore it. That will be his idea. He will wrap himself it it before it flies again. It will be bigly, hugher, greatest POW MIA flag ever. He may even get Man-of-the-Year in Michigan - Again!
That is his MO, now that you mention it. One of his underlings does something incredibly stupid and he steps in to fix it
Eh, there are WWII subs that are “Still on patrol”
No doubt the underling was ordered to do it then handed a bus schedule.
There’s far too much non-white space on that flag for him to be molesting it. Just think of the visual after he’s done accosting it. That would leave a much too obvious stain. Heck, there’s far too much black on that flag for him to even respect it.
And this is why one needs to search the thread for posts by running_coach before even drafting one’s own post. Dammit, r_c; you’re hogging all the good lines!
Vlad Putin might beg to differ.

Eh, there are WWII subs that are “Still on patrol”
(joke) What do you call Sailors buried at sea?
Chum (/joke)
I know I have mentioned it before, but most all of the streets on the submarine base in New London [actually Groton, but what the hell ] are named after various vessels, with the date and casualty numbers. I might have the chance to snap a picture of one if someone wants to see it. Here is the sort of general map without most of the little side streets - see, Thresher Ave, Shark, and so forth. The submarine museum there is interesting, one can actually tour the Nautilus =)
I toured the USS Nautilus in the late Eighties. At the time, they had a several-foot-long studio model of Capt. Nemo’s Nautilus from Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea on display in the visitor’s center.
That was the one ride I really, really wanted to go on the two times my family went to Disney in Florida. Both times it was shut down, and I learned not too long ago that they replaced the ride completely. I has a sad.
Historical outrage - to get the thread back on track.

Underlings? Maybe, usually just him. Witness him first telling his oil and gas (and coal) donors about how he’ll open up the Atlantic/Florida coastal waters for exploration; then a few days ago reversing himself (to everyone’s surprise) claiming he’s mister environ mental spewing how he’ll ban the practice. Pandering to Florida. Of course, if elected, it’s back to “drill baby, drill.”
“Global warming, no more wind, no more life! The oceans are going to rise. One-eighth of an inch within the next 250 years, we’re going to be wiped out!” — Donald Trump mocking climate change, Dec. 10, 2019.
