How has Former President Trump pissed you off today?

You are wrong. He most assuredly deserves this. His bullying of states and munucipalities to ignore sound medical and science just so he will look good and damn the number of people who die from a disease he first called a hoax and then a conspiracy against him personally set in motion by the Democratic party truly shows he absolutely deserves this. What galls me is that he is getting the finest medical care, courtesy of the Armed Forces, the very people he lies about supporting.

Does he deserve to die? No, but he does deserve to suffer for all the suffering and death he has caused.

He went to a rally after being informed that his advisor, Hope Hicks, whom he had been in close contact with, had contracted the virus. Now tell me what you think he deserves.
Better yet, ask anyone he may have infected what he deserves.

If an arsonist tries to burn down an occupied building and gets caught in the fire, do you mourn her/his loss as much as you mourn the loss of the building’s occupants?

Most assuredly not my phrase, it’s been around for a while. Because of demographic trends moving the nation’s electorate (un)steadily leftward, Republican voters and party leaders united behind Donald J. Trump to rush the cockpit in '16. As potentially lethal as the ramifications were (and have proven to be), it was still worth the risk and possibly give Mitch McConnell and the others a chance to stack the Supreme Court and do all the other awful things the GOP has done in the four years since.

This is another Flight 93 election mostly because the Senate is at risk as well as the White House. They’re looking at four years of Trump’s executive orders being overturned and a replacement for ObamaCare (assuming the SC shuts it down). In fact, they’re scared shitless that Biden will lower the age of Medicare by five years, implement heavy subsidies for day care for poor people and pay for a year of state college for needy students.

These are all things that the public likes and Republicans fear that getting them done will keep them out of power for a generation. Former deep red states like Georgia and Texas are turning purple and they know that they can’t win national elections with the small rural states that will be left.

What they maybe didn’t count on after pulling it off in '16 was that Donald would create a Flight 93 election for Democrats.

Sorry for running on.

This morning, I found myself hoping that someone would suffer. My father* taught me that the greatest sin we could commit was to intentionally allow someone to suffer. That’s what the orange asshole has done to piss me off.

* An atheist and also the most moral man I have ever known. Suck it fake Christians.

But hoping for something is not the same as intentionally allowing it. Trump is not under your control to either allow or prevent his harm. And while I was raised Catholic, I’ve never “bought” the idea that an unconscious/subconscious feeling or thought, not “fed” or carried into action, is by itself a sin.

I have to admit, I never heard the term “Flight 93 Election” before, but that’s apparently because I don’t move in the right circles.

Here’s a “Flight 93 election” primer:

The source of this meme is this article from a member of the conservative Claremont Institute in 2016, who signed himself “Publius Decius Mus”. The real Publius Decius Mus was a 3rd century BCE consul. " He was a member of a family that was renowned for sacrificing themselves on the battlefield for [Rome]" according to Wikipedia Publius Decius Mus (consul 312 BC) - Wikipedia

This Publius Decius Mus was really Michael Anton. Here’s his essay:

Here’s commentary on it from The Atlantic:

Here’s the critical paragraph:

I hadn’t realized that this is why so many Republicans apparently abandoned their principles to follow Trump.

An indoor rally. Without a mask.

“I have never wished anyone dead, but I have read some obituaries with a great deal of satisfaction.” - Clarence Darrow (attrib.)

I can’t find it now, but in one of the threads dedicated to the dumpster and his wife, someone posted a link to a report referring to the oranganus as obese. My first thought was, “Damn, that’s a lot of hamberders since your physical exam, dude.”

Each and every day, that stain on humanity does something to piss me off. There really is nothing he can do right. He’s that much of a cockup. He can’t even campaign to his worshippers without fucking that up.

He’s taking up a space in Walter Reed that a deserving military patient could use.

Also, he’s still breathing.

Actually, there’s a suite reserved for The President, no matter how odious or virtuous. No bed that could go to someone else.

Kind of like the joke.

“Sorry, sir, but we’re completely full. Without a reservation we can’t seat you.”

“If the President showed up, would you seat him?”

“Well, yes.”

“He’s in Camp David this evening – give me his table.”

I had not heard that term before either, and it does make sense.

Except, they aren’t charging the cockpit because terrorists have taken the plane.

They are charging the cockpit, containing a perfectly able and trained flight crew, because the plane is going to Columbus, Ohio, and they want to go to Disneyland.

Good point. That suite is large enough, and he is taking enough resources and attention for several soldiers.

Were I the proprietor of that restaurant, I would take you to the same place that I would seat the current president, should he show up unexpectedly. The spot right between the greasetrap and the dumpster.

But there are now doctors and nurses who must attend to him thanks to his own hubris and stupidity when they could instead be taking care of service members.

You mean the “suckers and losers”? :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Service members who may have been infected by him.

Speaking of…the twerp squatting near…er, in the Oval Office shows his support for the police and the military by blaming them for his infliction.
