Nah. It made no difference last time. Like literally no impact on me at all. I took off work, but I stayed home and had a pleasant staycation.

I see the Olympics hitting your town as a different type of pandemic. Sort of like Christmas is. Stores very crowded, streets crowded. Lines out the doors at restaurants.

Looking up the stats it was US v Egypt. It was on the right week day and the only one matching the class schedule played at Stanford. I remembered the US was one of the teams because it explained the insane traffic.
You could say that. Two of the other venues were Harvard stadium in Boston and the USNA stadium in Annapolis.
That’s actually why I thought it might have been Brazil - they could have outdrawn the U.S. in a match on U.S. soil in the 80s. Then again, it was still (near the end of) the NASL era, and with the number of immigrants in the Bay Area, there were plenty of folks to watch…
