How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 1)

In case anyone cares, Jimmy Kimmel did not read the Best Picture nominees (nor did he announce the winner (Al Pacino handed out the award)).

If only someone could remind us.
If only someone could show us the way.
If only someone could show us where to walk next.
If only someone could show us the way.
If only there was someone, some Ahole out there sacrificing his whole life
just to try show you how.

Yeah, in the rest of that “truth” Trump confused Jimmy with Al Pacino. So far, he hasn’t explained why he did this by saying he was just being sarcastic.

The middle part has nothing to do with the beginning and end of this “truth”. It’s even more bizarre than usual.

At least Jimmy Kimmel can rest well knowing that he has genuinely gotten Trump’s goat.
Well done, Jimmy! Congrats.

Also, why would Trump get upset about one of his pearls of pure wisdom handed down by god being broadcast on national television to enlighten the masses?

No shit. I’m betting Jimmy went into work early today to get cracking on the jokes - that is if he’s stopped laughing yet.

I hope Jimmy brings on Al Pacino and has him start the monologue pretending to be Kimmel. (Or vice versa)

This is exactly what I expect from Donnie: (gift link)

Gots to rake in that dough any way he can.

That would be brilliant. I hope Al would do it for free.

I thought he was against more taxes.

That’s only if it’s the government coming for the money. He evidently fancies himself as the big Iotian boss and wants his percentage, his piece of the action.

He’s only against taxes if he and his billionaire buddies have to pay them. He’s all for taxes if ordinary Americans have to pay them.

I don’t know if he wants his piece of the action as much as he sees himself as a brand that can be licensed. You want to use the Rolling Stones’ music in your movie, you pay a license fee; you want to use an actual sports broadcast (e.g. Super Bowl XL) in your TV show, you pay a license fee. And so on.

Trump sees himself as a brand (Trump Hotels, Trump golf courses, and the poorly thought out Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, and Trump Casinos), so he’s doing what any brand does: he’s charging a license fee to use his images and his words. It doesn’t matter whether it’s for a photo in Joe Blow’s campaign literature, or an endorsement (“Joe Blow will be the greatest senator that the state of Bla-de-bla ever had”), or both; he sees himself as a brand, and he’s doing what brands do.

We all see it as another grift, and I don’t think we’re wrong. And especially with the “Over 5% will be reported to the highest ranks of the GOP” condition, it makes him look like a mob boss. But all he’s thinking about is charging a licensing fee for use of his brand. That might work in a commercial context, but I don’t think it works in a political context. It just makes him look greedy.

If it will stop the endless stream of “Candidate X stands with Trump!” and “Candidate Y will help Trump finish the wall!” and “Candidate Z knows that Trump was right!” commercials that interrupt my Jeopardy viewing every night, I’m all for it.

Nah, they’ll just happily send him the money. Grateful to be allowed to ASS-ociate with him.

I’m sure you’re right, but a guy can hope!

They still think he is a cool, suave, rich dude. And more importantly - It’s better to be the Godfathers friend than his enemy.

Or, they’ll run some “stands with Trump” ad without knowing about the arrangement, get hit with an invoice and have no way to pay because they spent all their donations on ads. Then we get the fun spectacle of some MAGAt candidate being hit with a cease-and-desist from the Trump Org.

Which does raise the question: do you suppose they have people monitoring the campaign ads in every local TV market in the country to keep an eye out for “violations”? Or, more likely, are they just relying on political rivals to snitch on the candidates who don’t kick in their 5%?

It wouldn’t really take “people.” There are any number of social listening platforms that will detect any phrase you want, and I’m sure some exist for monitoring traditional media as well.

Of course, the platforms cost money, and you have to have at least one staffer who knows how to use them, so it’s entirely possible that they’re …

Or everybody just lies all the time.

“Oh of course we kicked in our share” - according to social media
“What money?” - according to bank account

It’s grifters all the way down and they also prey on each other.
