He was in my neck of the stix recently, and I entertained the idea of going to heckle. But turns out I’m allergic to getting the shit kicked out of me by a bunch of Neanderthals.
I assume that he’s basing it on the Mariel Boatlift from Cuba. Which was supposed to allow Cuban Americans to bring their relatives out of Cuba, but which Castro used as an excuse to get rid of some of his prisoners. This was a big deal in 1982, so probably right in the sweet spot of what remains of Trumps memory (back when Carson was alive). The narrative from the news at the time pretty much matches the narrative that he’s trying to spread about the current sent of immigrants. But nothing like what happened in the boat lift is happening now, and even with that, the proportion of the Cuban immigrants that were actually released hardened criminals was highly exaggerated.
Here is an interesting podcast (with transcriptt) that I found about it.
I can hear Trump now. "I’ve been indicted. Again. Nobody in the history of our country has been indicted more than me. I’ve done nothing wrong, it’s election interference, it’s Kamala influencing the Justice Department, she’s controlling it … "
Pretty sure that @Smapti can put a better spin on this, but this will do for now.
(Aside: I always love when Trump paints himself as a lawyer, or at least someone schooled in the law. His “it’s unconstitutional!” remarks make us real constitutional scholars, called to the bar, because we’ve passed the bar, laugh out loud. Hey, Trump? What’s the closest you’ve ever been to a law class? Walking down the hall outside of Contracts 101?)
Even those of us who have not passed the Bar can know better.
Trump is absolutely not curious. He wants what he wants and it ends there as it would for a five-year-old. He is not an intelligent person. I’ve actually wondered if he was illiterate. I have decided he can read…but he doesn’t. He sure as shit has no concept of how the law or the constitution works and has no interest in anyone telling him different.
If granted, he’ll excoriate Sleepy Joe and Ka-MA-luh for “wasteful public spending,” and promise a Congressional inquiry:
Incidentally, Biden is fine with it:
“I’ve told the department to give him every single thing he needs … as he were a sitting president,” Biden said. “If it fits into that category, that’s fine.”
It appears that there is actual evidence that the ShitGibbon campaign has coördinated with X/Elno, on the matter of the leaked Vance material. This seems to constitute improper or illegal activity (the equivalent of exceeding the contribution limit). But, of course, the FEC is unfair to billionaires, so this would be them oppressing ShitGibbon for nothing more than being ShitGibbon.
That’s an insult. Research has shown that Neanderthals were more intelligent and creative than commonly thought — and far more so than the run-of-the-sty MAGAss.
