Trump is an uncurious person. He doesn’t know the words or care the message. If they aren’t just a naked play for Christian support, they are just songs that he likes the sound.
YMCA is just a fun, energetic song. “Macho Man” is as far as he listens to the words. “That’s perfect for me.”
I’m sure Hallelujah isn’t, but is Ave Maria in public domain? As in, no one can tell him not to use it, and he doesn’t have to pay for it?
I’m an Atheist and I love both those songs. I will admit I do not know the words to Ave Maria. It’s just beautiful music with or without vocals.
Hallelujah is a different matter all together. I really don’t think it is a “religious” piece, though it uses biblical references and imagery.

I’ve no doubt that Trump didn’t pick any of those songs. That’s what his staff is for. Pick music that everybody likes, and throw in a religious one that everybody knows, for good measure.
