I’ve seen reports that they’ll be “investigated”. On the pretense that investigating Trump and J6 participants was a colossal waste of resources and they need to held accountable.
No, they were fired.
Special counsel firings: The acting attorney general, James McHenry, fired more than a dozen prosecutors who worked with Special Counsel Jack Smith on the two federal prosecutions of Donald J. Trump, saying they could no longer be trusted to do their jobs. Other top officials have been reassigned as the administration asserts more direct control over the Justice Department.
I meant that they’ll be investigated in addition to being fired. That whole retribution thing. I should have made that clearer.
I doubt the investigations would result in convictions for whatever charges they can make up, but that almost seems besides the point. The point seems to be to harass and punish, and if the former DOJ employees have to spend a lot of money defending themselves, that’s just a bonus.
BREAKING: Trump carries out NIGHTMARE plan against prosecutors
The Legal Breakdown with Glenn Kirschner
Legal Breakdown episode 452: @GlennKirschner2 discusses Trump’s plan to prosecute the prosecutors of the January 6 cases.
Yeah, it hits the revenge buttons for Trump. But it’s also important to him for what the committee’s final report will say - that the investigators conspired to hurt Trump by harassing innocent patriots who had been politely trying to right the wrong from the stolen 2020 election. Which he won (oh wait, that’s being investigated by a different committee).
Hey – what if we put the Palestinians in Greenland?
Wasn’t that a Michael Chabon book?
Federal funding freeze? Can he do that legally? I thought Congress handled that.
Up to a point, yes. In the short term, it can be couched as figuring out how to appropriately direct spending with a new incoming administration. I’m fairly sure that’s how they’re trying to play this.
In the long term, if that funding is not spent, well, that depends on the courts and Congress providing oversight, and I’m not so confident in that part.
I put this one in the “good for Democracy” column. Surely Jack had a lot of top lawyers on his team, so now the trump DoJ will be without all that talent. They will be replaced by bottom feeders who won’t be as capable at getting cases won in court.
Note to other foreign leaders: doing what Trump wants won’t get you anything other than very momentary goodwill. Like, a nanosecond’s worth - two if you’re lucky.

Hearing that Medicaid payments have stopped in the last couple of hours…
Welcome aboard, here are your handcuffs and your complimentary diaper.
The new Stepford press secretary said earlier today that benefits for individual’s, like Medicaid and SNAP have not been frozen; only funds for agencies. Gack, she’s everything you’d expect.
I guess I can stop beating myself up for being too lazy to sign up.
Jim Acosta just resigned from CNN:
Prompting this gesture of good faith from Donald Trump:
He seems nice.
Yep. Looks like we got to the FAFO period of re-electing Trump real quick (fuck around find out).
Jebus, this Medicaid scare took a year off my life this afternoon. My son’s family would no doubt be homeless without it.
I’d be dead…
Just under two thirds of all nursing facility residents are supported by medicaid as the primary payer. A halt to medicaid-paid nursing care would be one way to shrink the elderly population in the US very quickly.
