The story about him getting the money for the photo book looks like a prime example of that.

His actual hires were absurd at the time - these would have been incalculably worse. As Orangitang spiraled down after the pandemic start, he dropped any attempt at hiring outside experts and focused on going to the mattresses with family in charge of everything.
And he probably never even learned to make a decent plate of spaghetti.

Was she a government employee and if so, would they belong to the government? If they are hers, why not tell him to pound sand and undercut his book by selling it at half his price?

Most people, if they find 20$ in an empty parking lot of an abandoned building will pocket it. If they find 20$ at the spot where they’s just watched a single parent wrangling 2 toddlers and fiddling with their wallet will try to return it. Trump (and pharma Bro and, I suspect, a fair number of business people) will only ask if it landed on a public sidewalk or a private driveway, and if the latter, does the penalty for keeping it outweigh the value.
Trump is probably genuinely baffled that anybody ever expects him to leave anything on the table he doesn’t absolutely have to.
