How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 2)

Yeah, his “invincibility” has its limits.

538 has him underwater now. I expect that to keep going.

My trump loving boss is not happy at the moment. He’s very hopeful that trump is just bluffing about tariffs. He’s convinced that trump is playing 4 d chess with Putin, but he’s a little worried about that situation too.

I hope trump really does start to lose support. It may be our only hope.

It doesn’t matter how much the people insist that the emperor’s new clothes are the height of fashion when the emperor is hospitalized for hypothermia.

At a certain point reality isn’t going to give a shit what you believe. And you have to be suicidally devoted to a cult, we’re talking Heaven’s Gate type stuff, to ignore it once it starts actually affecting you in a big way. There are some MAGA folks like that, but they’re not going to be that big of a percentage I would think.

I fear it’s a bigger percentage than I would like to see.

But I also suspect the percentage is much lower as you go to higher on the socioeconomic scale, i.e. the well off care more about their personal finances than slavish devotion to a demagogue.

Well, there’s hope. My Trump cultist FB friend is convinced Trump is the Messiah. There are no facts that will ever change her mind. It’s good that your boss isn’t happy about the tariffs, and it’s good that he is worried about Putin. It indicates his mind might be changed. There will be tariffs. The stock market is going to fall. If you are on good terms with him, you may suggest that you were right about Trump’s tariffs all along. You may suggest that since you were right about that, then maybe Trump is being played by Putin. (And you can show him the Guardian article about how the Soviets/Russia had been grooming him since the '80s.) Steer him gently. It’s hard for people to admit they’d been taken. But once they find out, it’s foolish to continue to allow themselves to continue to be taken.

I fear it’s either a bigger percentage or the level of pain they experience will need to be much higher than many/most would think.

That salient Carl Sagan quote once again

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”

His continued stupidity and refusal to actually fact-check himself get me frothing mad. “Transgender mice”? Who in their right mind says something like that without making sure whether or not it’s correct? Common sense would tell the average IQ person that there is something wrong there, but this shitheel just spouts it as truth. And worse, the idiots sitting behind him are shaking their heads with a “isn’t that just terrible” look on their faces. Same for his idiotic claims of people claiming to be 200 years old collecting social security checks. IT’S NOT TRUE, YOU FUCKING MORON!

Could not see the video. Yet as per his promises in 2016, he could have shot (or had shot) as many democrats holding signs along with any of the lefty SCOTUS present and all we’d be talking about today is “What four judges will Trump be nominating?”

Seriously, this was a prime moment for the Democrats to take the high ground and mass on the Capitol steps. If I was a Dem there, that petty tyrant pointing in my direction and calling us all “lunatics” would be time to go for me.

Yes, that might have helped.

Instead, we got nine Democrats agreeing that the protesting Rep. Al Green should be censured. None of whom, presumably, suggested that those Reps who interrupted BIDEN speeches (e.g. Margorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert) should be censured.

Democrats also failed to do the obvious: in the face of Trump using that sick kid as a prop during his speech, they should have bought and shown a commercial the very next day, highlighting all the cuts to cancer research Trump has been doing (and bragging about). But they didn’t. They let the moment pass.

This is what virtually all Trump-apologists are depending upon. With every new story of bat-shit crazy remarks or decisions from Trump, his defenders trot out the “4-D chess” theory.

As @Chefguy and others have mentioned, Trump is really testing them with the level of crazy he’s spouting, specifically this week with his ‘money wasted on transgender mice’ claim:

Those continuing to rely on that 4-D chess theory are going to have to work REALLY hard at it.

He should be lauded, or whatever the parliamentary/congressional term is. Instead:

You stole my money and my cigarettes
And I haven’t seen hide nor hair of you yet

  • (another Al Green)

And here I always attributed it to the Talking Heads.

Now I want to know. Can you tell me?

That pair of lines is one of the few changes the Talking Heads made:

Take my money, my cigarettes
I haven’t seen the worst of it yet

Yet the line I was looking for, as fitting punishment for Congressmen who get out of line with Trump (Lauren Boebert said he shook a “pimp cane” at Trump) is only in the Talking Heads version:

Take me to the river, drop me in the water

Welcome to your Sunday Morning Brain Bleach Moment

The 2026 World Cup is coming to the Americas and Donald J. Trump by executive order has anointed himself as chair of the committee planning the event.

Filed under, “YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS SHIT UP”, we have:
Trump says U.S. trade tensions with Mexico, Canada will make World Cup more exciting
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-says-us-trade-tensions-with-mexico-canada-will-make-world-cup-more-2025-03-08/

Ted Nugent and Kid Rock will provide the halftime entertainment of the finale. Followed by a White House wedding between The Kid and Lauren Boebert. Who better to preside than Trump himself - recently hailed as the return of JC. Reception to be held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts**. Cost expected to be $50,000.00 a plate (can’t have the uneducated there).

** Pending rename
Some of the above may be made up, Og, I hope I haven’t given them any ideas!

Maybe he’ll watch more than 10 minutes (like he did the super bowl) of the first “gifted” game that includes the host nation in one of the brackets (Pots?)

I thought these things - like the Olympics - were announced many years in advance.

I don’t know how good the USA is (they have been getting better) and know even less about Canadian football/soccer (there will be confusion on what to call it in either country). So if you want a huge influx of Mexicans, Don, they’ll be coming. And they’re all staying forever.

I cannot imagine football fans from Europe will fly over the beautiful ocean except that hooliganism will be encouraged by Trump.

Jesus Christ.

This is by far the most dangerous thing Trump has done so far. Unless you want the entire world to hate your country with the fire of a thousand suns, don’t mess with the World Cup. I’m not kidding. This could start wars.

They are. Wikipedia says the 2026 locations were decided in 2018. Nothing to do with Trump.

But of course he’s relishing the idea of the event causing chaos and conflict—hey, that’s his brand!

On that 2018 vote:

Well, if there’s a war, then Trump will just have to stay in power past 2028, right? You know, “for the duration.”

So I’m sure he’ll do all he can to ensure peace.

If we’ll count the Chinese encircling Taiwan till they capitulate, that would be a “war” yet no country declares war any more, so it’ll be no more of a war than Russia in Ukraine or the still-ongoing “police action” that defines the Korean War.

“The Falklands War?” : The UK referred to it as an “armed conflict”, and Argentina called it a “recuperation of national territory” rather than a war.

No more wars! Yet plenty of ways to describe shooting stuff at eachother. One of the interesting things about the Falklands whatever was it put the French Exocet missile (used by Argentina) front & center and meant the end of battleships
