Bovino’s tear gas lobs are going to go over in airports even better than in residential neighborhoods!
Wonder if MAGA’ll react like “aaaa all those high-falutin’ libs can’t get around in their fancy-shmancy air-travel anymore considering us fentanyl/oxy-vacuuming hicks never got the chance to in the first place.”
But, he didn’t figure out anything. He never has. People are disagreeing with his very, very bad ideas so that means he has to do them.
Nah. They’ll blame Biden.
Not being in the US, and having never travelled there… there seems to be a flaw in Trump’s plan here, one that a first grade kid could pick up.
ICE (as evil as it is) and TSA (as annoying as they are) do completely different rôles in society.
TSA is possibly defensible, in that the 9/11 terrorist action should never again happen. So these are just people doing a fairly boring but essential job, and unfortunately it gives them a little power complex.
ICE is indefensible, and will encourage both domestic and inbound foreign based terrorism.
No, no, no. The role of each agency, and every other agency and department in the federal government, is exactly what trump says it is on the day that he says it. And that might change tomorrow, or 5 minutes from now. That’s how it works here in the USA these days.
On the one hand, a good idea.
On the other, technically Congress controls the pursestrings and the President shouldn’t be encouraged to misuse funds allocated elsewhere.
On the gripping hand, he already basically does that without repercussion
Never mind, already posted.
Why does he have so much control over congress? Oh, Russia, Epstein.
Emily Litilla - “Never mind”
Also, craven legislators afraid of being primaried (and losing their jobs), and afraid of retribution from MAGA.
Oh, cowards. All of them.
This Goddamn “Excursion” that has cost Billions and Thousands of lives sure has seemed to divert attention away from the Child Rape evidence.
Goddammit.
How the fuck did America get to this point???
Because 63 million voted for him in 2016, 74 million voted for him in 2020 and 77 million voted for him in 2024.
This isn’t a fringe movement.
Homeschooling.
I think the last time a sitting president was depicted on US currency was Abraham Lincoln. (The 1861-2 $10 Demand Note) Since then it has been considered improper and not very classy to put anyone in office on US currency, or stamps and the like.
But our current president, the very embodiment of “not very classy”, can’t wait to put his face on coins.
Already there are plans to put him on both sides of a $1 commemorative coin (even though the act it’s being minted under explicitly forbids using the likeness of a living person). I guess that would make it “two faced”, and impossible to use in “heads or ails” coin tossing.
But now there are plans to put him on a gold commemorative, as well. And the suggestion came from the Commission of Fine Arts. Which Trump himself appointed, although I’m sure that has nothing to do with it.
Members of a federal arts commission voted on Thursday to create a 24-carat commemorative gold coin featuring President Donald Trump — and to make it ‘as large as possible.’
The Commission of Fine Arts, a seven-person panel appointed by the president, passed a motion calling for the U.S. Treasury to manufacture the coin. The gold piece would feature Trump leaning over the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office on one side and a bald eagle on the other.
If it were up to me, I’d suggest an eagle leaning over the Resolute Desk on one side, and a bald Trump on the other.
I thought they moved the Resolute desk. Isn’t there a law against using furniture no longer in the Oval Office on currency?
How big? The commission’s vice chairman, James McCrery II, the initial architect for the White House vanity ballroom project, called for the motion to pass “with the strong encouragement that you make it as large as possible, all the way to three inches in diameter.”
THREE INCHES!!!
That’ll wear a hole in your pocket.
No, the most recent is Calvin Coolidge on the 1926 Sesquicentennial of American Independence Half Dollar. So far, that’s the only incident of a living US president to be on a coin.
That’s what she said.
Sorry, I’ll be on my way now.
Hm.
Hadn’t heard of that one.
Perhaps it’s appropriate that the current proposal is a hundred years later?
Yes, but Trump makes more money than Calvin Coolidge - put together!
