‘Dumb’ is like one of the very first words every smartass kindergartner learns the correct way to spell. Hell, there’s probably a not insignificant chunk of this board who learned about silent letters when they were five because of this specific word.
And it took the orange dum’b’ass 80 years to figure this out. Then he turns around and flaunts his ignorance and stupidity to the world like a toddler proudly displaying his shitty diaper. And the rest of us are just expected to go along with it like we’re all just as stupid as he is. And this has been going on for Ten. Fucking. Years.

I’ve said it before, but I’m not sure what I find more embarrassing. The fact that so many Americans want an authoritarian strongman to rule over them. Or the fact that the authortarian strongman they want to rule over them is a weak, venal, and stupid man like Trump.

It’s not only that the country “has been hijacked”-- that’s bad enough!-- but that it was a whole lot of voters who put trump in a position to do the hijacking, not once but TWICE! And many of them freely admit they’d vote for him again even though his actions and policies hurt them.
‘Cause Democrats would open a chain of Pedophile Pizza Parlors where they will round up children from elementary schools (and preschools, too) and transgenderize them while you wait for your slice o’ pepperoni.

That no one can or will stop him. Not his own party, not the Supremes, not his family (who if he were a private citizen would be in A Home by now). Various courts are trying, but Donnie just ignores them. Heck, it’s always worked for him in the past, so why not?
Okay, this week the Republicans fluttered their hankies at him, then clutched their pearls and their smelling salts and fled home for a week. I hope their constituents let them have it right between the pearls.

Andy Biggs, one of the instigators of “Stop the Steal”* that led to J6 hasn’t held a town hall meeting since March, 2025 and that one was a private event organized by the Legislative District 12 Republicans and required attendees to be registered Republicans to enter.
Paul Gosar, his co-conspirator, started cancelling in-person town halls in 2017, preferring people phone-in.
It is difficult kicking a coward in the pearls when they don’t show up.
*Even though he and five other Republicans won their House elections handily
One of my early school memories was a phonics class where we were supposed to write down the last letter of various words, one of which was “lamb”, and having another student smugly tell me that my “b” was wrong. (And then the teacher decided that both answers were right).

While I’m not denying the possibility that there could be Dem voters showing up to these town halls and voicing their concerns, no one on planet earth has any way of actually proving that.
For tele-town halls, can’t a screen of a dissenter simply be deleted? Anyone here been involved in one and can refute / elucidate a bit more on that?

In many cases they likely don’t know about the outrageous thing. Controlling information is vital to authoritarian rulers (and they prioritize it).
The same is true here in a slightly more limited way. There are millions of Americans who consume only news sources that never tell them about ‘inconvenient’ facts. Likely many today have no idea that the Slush Fund is a story, or even the Epstein Files. They just never give any attention to any source that would mention those things.
Certainly they have no idea that Donald was surprised to learn that “dumb” has a ‘b’ in it. They never see footage of him saying the most dementia-suggestive things he says on a regular basis. They get very short clips only, in which he sounds sane and intelligent.
There is the phrase “on the lam”; although if someone knew that phrase in elementary school he may have bigger problems than spelling.

“Lam” as in “on the”, “fleeing”, “evading”, seems to have a different and less clear etymology, most frequently explained as cognate with “lambaste” and other words signifying beating. That is, to be “on the lam”, or to “beat it”, means to flail the ground with one’s feet in running away.
