“Stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen!”
Doesn’t he? It’s called Newspeak.
Did he ever suggest going down to the quarry and throwing stuff in?
An’ shit!
Now you’re cookin’
For god’s sake, Trump is such a fucking idiot.
Why exactly is his new term supposedly “highly accepted…and more accurate,” anyway? Does he think it’s “highly accepted” based on his stupid poll?
As for “more accurate,” everyone knows what “Artificial Intelligence” means. And this name encompasses the key feature of the technology in question: that it is designed and not biological in nature. (I suppose an argument could be made for “machine intelligence.”)
Whereas nobody—other than those who pay attention to Trump’s blathering—have any idea what “Super Intelligence” is referring to. Nor is a particularly apt name, considering the hallucinations of many AI agents.
It has also been the standard term for that technology for 70 years, rather than some bullshit Trump (or one of his flunkies) recently made up.
OK, I need a Trump Whisperer to explain the workings of his “brain” re: this AI thing. What was his problem with the term that, as has been rightly pointed out, has been universally accepted for 70 years?
I’m sure this is the first time he’s heard of it.
You’re expecting someone to investigate the workings of his brain? Don’t ask for much, do you?
Just a total WAG, but I think the term “artificial” equates to “fake” or “inferior” to him. Especially considering how many of the nutjobs in his circle obsess over “natural” shit like “raw milk”.
I think we’ve all learned to really lower our expectations in the past nine years or so.
Sounds like a Constitutional violation, unless it’s done voluntarily by someone with the appropriate fetish.
You give him too much credit. He likes BIG and LOUD and SIMPLE words. And repeats the few words he likes every chance he gets.
Artificial has too many syllables. Super only has 2 syllables and is easy to understand. He loves words like that. Like Biggest or Hottest or other similar superlatives. Even “superior” has too many syllables for his tastes. If "super"est was an actual word, he probably would have suggested that, instead.
He clearly has cognitive problems, but not to the extent of being totally incapable of understanding multisyllabic words, as much as we like to mock his clear mental shortcomings.
Shucks, being an actual word never stopped him before. See, for example, “bigly” and “covfefe.” Maybe I’ll start calling AI "Bigly Intelligence. " Sounds more descriptive than "Super Intelligence. "
It has more to do with his lifelong aesthetic sense, though intelligence does play a role.
His word choices are much like his general aesthetic sense as also expressed by his clothing, his interior design, his exterior design - as loud and tacky and shiny as he can make them. He doesn’t go for sophisticated or understated in any aspect in his life, including word choice. “Artificial” is an egghead word. Super is a word for winners. As simple as that
My WAG: he has some financial stake in the success of AI (in other words…grift) and feels the term “artificial” is detrimental, and needs his marketing acumen to enhance its image and therefore his profit.
I would agree.
Nope. Three syllables. That’s out.
Maybe RFK whispered SI to Donald.
