Yes, I am lucky that there locations for early voting near where I live, so that is what I have been doing for the last few elections.
As to the artificial intelligence rename, it really is just a marketing move. There is a lot of push back against AI, so if we call it something else, maybe no one will notice it is the same thing. Like a company with a bad reputation changing names so that people don’t realize it is the same business.
I vote by mail because I can get “proof” my ballot was counted. And if there’s a problem, I have another almost month to fix that problem.
The MUCH larger issue IMO is I won’t find myself at a polling place with long lines, “broken” machines, Proud Boyz out front yakking with the local real policemen, a sudden and mysterious extreme shortage of provisional ballot documents, etc. And no way to request a do-over tomorrow because when it comes to voting on Election Day, there is no tomorrow.
I say “proof” in scare quoted because if you assume the entire thing is a crooked charade from top to bottom, somebody could fake that too. But I don’t think we’re to that point. Yet.
There will be organized shenanigans in various places. And lots of different kinds of shenanigans in different places. But I bet what there won’t be much of is skillfully executed undetectable shenanigans in place from the git-go.
Plus, don’t you know that it’s all the fault of Volodymyr Zelensky that a “deal” hasn’t been made between Ukraine and Russia. Trump said today, “You know what I suggest? I suggest they [meaning the Ukrainian people] get a new leader who can make a deal because he could have made many deals and for some reason, he never does.” He’s mad because Zelensky criticized the deal with Russia to sell diesel, saying that doing so would prolong the war.
Last night, Trump attended a rally in Syracuse for Bruce Blakeman, running for New York governor on the Republican ticket but the only thing on Trump’s mind was that he didn’t receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
Today, they gave out the Nobel Peace Prize to a person. I never heard of the person. Nobody did. It’s a mystery person. How about this though? I settled eight wars with letters being sent from every president and prime minister from all of those countries that I helped to stop. They sent them to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Norway. And I’m about to settle or win two more. Iran and Russia-Ukraine. We’re going to get them out. Russia, Ukraine. We’re going to get that done too. And that’s happening quickly. And I will tell you what, Iran will be very quick one way or the other. Either they give us everything or they don’t exist any longer. They know that.
Despite all of this and all of these unbelievable accomplishments, the Nobel Prize was given out today to a liberal person who works at the United Nations who nobody has every heard of. I’ve never heard of the person. I know a lot of people. I never heard of this particular person but congratulations anyway. In all of the wars that I have settled, I never spoke to the United Nations. They were of no help to me. The United States of America, represented by me as your president, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but didn’t.
And this is an indelible stain on the country of Norway, and those people that made such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision. The Nobel Peace Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are anti-democracy and really enemies of civilization. We will not forget, Norway, that you didn’t give this prize with the greatest record in history. Not eight wars. We should have had eight Nobel prizes.
Beyond the fact that this undermines our sanctions against Russia, I suspect that any future Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries will be deemed as attacks against US interests by the shithead.
Like you, thanks for signing up for it I received an SMS and email this week that the ballot was being prepared (Monday), and mailed (Wednesday). It was in my mailbox on Thursday. I marked it last night (Friday) and put it in the drop-off box in front of the registrar’s satellite office this morning (Saturday).
I expect to get notice that it has been received, that the signature checked okay, and, finally, counted next week.
Me, too. Lines are always shorter than on Election Day itself. (And I avoid doing a mail-in ballot as my signature isn’t invariable enough. I don’t want to give my red state’s honchos a reason to reject my vote.)
Donald’s personal AI would be “Absent Intelligence.”
From what I’ve heard the amount is LESS THAN the USA uses in fourteen hours.
So it won’t lower prices here. But what it will do is break the back of the international sanctions against Russia, increasing their revenues by billions.
All of which can be used not only to pound Ukraine, but to continue aiding Iran in targeting US bases and vessels.
A Congress of integrity would certainly consider this to be a basis for impeachment, conviction, and removal.
Well, we can hope that with Donald’s sinking popularity, the self-interest of Congressional Republicans (particularly in January 2027, when they may be in the minority) will lead them to be open to deep-sixing the treasonous old reprobate.
I mean, you can almost hear the excuses: ‘there have been so many reports that his health is suffering from the Presidency; I want him to get the rest he so clearly needs, and stepping aside is best for him….’
Now the orange bastard is blaming Zelenskyy for not ending the war with Russia, which of course has led to high diesel prices, and suggested that Ukraine needs a new president.
President Donald Trump said Saturday it was time for Ukraine to get a new president, suggesting Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not done enough to end his country’s war with Russia and blaming him for high diesel prices in the U.S.
“I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal because he could have made many deals and for some reason he never does,” Trump said.
I’ve gone back and forth over this question many times over the years. That Donald Trump has frequently acted in ways that seem deliberately designed to hurt the United States is without dispute. But then Trump has punched himself in the dick on several occasions, so I can’t help but think the man if a fucking moron. I guess you could be a moron and still be working for Russia, but I tend to think he’s more of a malevolent idiot.
