How hot is hot where YOU live??

It was 105º here in a Southern California valley earlier this week. I believe that’s about the hottest it gets, although I do believe it’s hit 110º here before when Mother Nature was feeling particularly frisky.

What do I do when it gets that hot? Turn on the a/c and watch TV, and avoiding going outside during daylight hours at all. I do not do well with heat.

it hit over a hundred in april this year. I shit you not. Yesterday it was 110, today might even be a bit hotter. I stay inside as much as possible. I’m not used to this for such a long stretch. Back in KC where I’m from it always hit over a hundred in the summer and 110 at least a couple times… but not EVERY single day. Though the humidity was a dog.

I miss cooling thunderstorms.

Hot here is in the 90s F. It’s not really that hot, but with 100% humidity, it’s unbearable. Breathing is difficult. I was in Vegas last year in July, 115 degrees, and it was nice - the “ozone action days” here are awful.

UGH… I HATE summer…
Yesterday… 108… the day before it was 106. OOooOoo cooling trend at 98 today… bestill my beating, sweating heart. Southern California SUCKS!

It was about 80F yesterday and right now it’s about 70F and our high for the day is 75F. Usually our summer’s are pretty hot though. It gets into the 90s mid-June through August and we have a few days where the temperature is 100+ degrees. September is usually back to the 80s though. I love it!

“How hot is hot where YOU live??”

Where I live, it’s a tight halter top showing cleavage, “Daisy Dukes” and a come-hither look.

this week it looks like low 90’s/mid 70’s for the day night spread. Humidity is around 75%, not too bad. It’s nice to see out of towners come here and gag on that first breath. It’s like “no we don’t breathe this mess, we drink it.” humidity level.

About what the Dopers in FL said about rain. Ditto! If you get a big Andrew/Camille style hurricane or three, pass em along! (20+ inches behind and growing.)

Right now? it’s 82, with Heat Index of 88. at 10:52am.

We’ve had a VERY cold, wet spring here in the New York area. It’s finally supposed to be in the 80s today and I’m delighted.

I’m one of those “some like it hot” girls. Anything below 80º is too damn cold for me, I’m happiest when it’s around 90º. A few years ago I was strolling around the city and thinking, “OK, it’s a little too hot even for me today, though not unbearable.” Turned out it was 112º. I guess I have no blood or something . . .

Sometimes it gets hot enough here in Eugene OR to steam the rain off the sidewalks. It’s the middle of June, and it finally got sunny, but five will get you ten it’ll rain within the next week. Hard to comprehend for a California boy.

I wish we could send some of this rain down Florida’s way, they need it a hell of a lot more than we do.

Well, I live in the Bay Area in Antioch by the Delta. We were up to 110 yesterday. Woohoo!
I want to back to Utah…I can’t handle this heat.

Hey! So did my company! Wait… my company also has an office in Boulder. Uh… where do you work, Athena???

Uh Chief… I don’t think those looks your neighbors are giving you can be called “come hither.”

… and it was 23 today (that’s 73 F) and the AC at work was cranked up so high I thought I was going to freeze to death.

63 and breezy. Lows tonight expected in the low 40’s. Of course last week it was in the 90’s for a couple of days.

Good ol’ Wisconsin weather, if you don’t like it, wait 15 minutes.

Hmmmm… how to do this without telling the whole bloody world where I work?!? I work for a large software company specializing in storage & backup applications. We have offices in Mountain View & Orlando as well. Sound familiar? Where do YOU work?

Ah yes good old Chicago. Right now it’s only about 75 (Farenheit that is ) But…. Chicago is the only place in the world where you can get all four seasons in a day or so  . I’m not kidding Last week or so it was about 50 degrees and raining in the morning, it hit 88 and dry by about 1:30 and there was hail the next afternoon! If you are really interested I’ll go back and look up the days so you know I’m not kidding. Man gotta love those seasons!

Heat is okay if its dry heat.

The Bay area division of my company had to turn off a bunch of servers because PG&E was doing blackouts. Nifty!<<<

I then quipped:

 Whoa!

I, too, work for a large software company specializing in storage and backup applications. I think we USED to have an office in Mountain View, but outside of Emeryville (our HQ) I think we only have a satellite office in Milpitas as far as the Valley area goes. We also have an annual technical conference in Orlando, but I don’t think we have an office there. We do however, have sales offices just about everywhere, and development campuses in Concord, MA, Boulder, Waterloo.

Hey wait a minute… perhaps you work for a COMPETITOR?!?!?!? :stuck_out_tongue: !!

PS: Technically I think we are known primarily as a database company. We’re shifting focus away from server-side databases to portal solutions, though.

PPS: We sponsor a tennis tournament every spring.

it’s New Jersey .

I think it was the low-to-mid 90’s today and I was outside near Newark trying to catch those darn birdies. Trucks roaring by, using those Jake Brakes (sp?) and kicking up a lot of grit and dust. Horns blaring. Ah, the joys <cough> of nature <cough, cough, whaddja say?>.

It hotter than a whore’s ass on dollar night here.
