How I became a sorta Buckeye: a scarlet and gray MMP

I’m up and eating. I’m thankful right now that our back up goalie is on fire, because the rest of the team haven’t showed up yet. We didn’t get any snow, just is well, people panic at the tought of flurries and buy all the milk and bread in town.

Young lady, you don’t fool me with that fresh approach, gonna think on it ploy! Quit that procrastinatin’ and get back in there and finish up that paper. Humph! Like I haven’t heard that one before.

Why do I suddenly feel like all these little pins are pricking me?

rigs, I recognize that “new take on paper” hope. Almost never pans out. So stop sticking pins in swampy and just write! :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh and it was a special “fill the cart to the brim” charge at Target. I think there’s a lower admission if you don’t use the whole cart.

I made cornbread with creamed corn, cinnamon and raisins. I know, I know, not real, but still good.

Only a couple more loads of laundry and I’ll be all caught up.

Still cleaning. (Took care of a stain in the LR carpet. ) I’ve still got about two hours before little brother gets here. Guess I’ll go do the bathroom.

The boss did end up giving me 59 minutes. Good thing too, because I had to stop at the madhouse more commonly known as Safeway and pick up stuff to make the appetizers I’m supposed to bring. Good freakin’ grief! It was craziness in there.

Dinner is a big time cheat tonight; Stouffers Chicken Enchiladas. Yeah, yeah, I know, but I’ve got appetizers to prepare.

Tomorrow we’ll leave here around 10:30, pick up the mom and MIL, and head on out to the Olympic Pennninsula (Port Orchard) to eat at my sister and BIL’s place. I’m not looking forward to the drive at all. Oh well; whatchew you gonna do.

Well, I need to do some stuff. Maybe I’ll be back later.

We’ve got 5 gallons of light green paint and one gallon of dark green and 3 rollers and some masking tape and some spackle standing by for fun  on Friday. But fair is fair - on Saturday, we’re doing yard stuff. Then on Sunday, he can go futz on the boat.

I’ve got a note on the door to the garage to remind me what we need to take to Mom’s tomorrow. The rain has temporarily stopped, but more is supposed to come after midnight. Thankfully, we have a brand new furnace, so I don’t have to worry about the cold. That’s nice.

So, another day winds down. In a bit, I’m gonna go crawl under the covers with my sweetie. Oh yeah…

swampy, what it’s going to take I think, is for us to duct tape the obstinate young lady to her desk chair in a manner in which she can NOTHING but type.

SCL - I’m all ouuta my most excellent pain killers from the head banging I took, otherwose I’d sneak some through the internet at you.

That reminds me, I need to get the warming thing in the microwave, and on my neck for a while. Jennifer, the magical fingered masseuse of the gods told me this week I have a neck like steel cable, and she didn’t mean in that admiring “ooh, what a strong guy” way, but rather in the way that means “dayum this is a stiff neck dude”.

She recommended warmth -10 minutes at a time, twice a day, and when Jen speaks, I listen.

rigs, I transcribe for a DC court reporting firm. Which means a bit of everything…and lately I’ve been working on DOJ press briefings, which are on a turn-around-as-fast-as-you-can basis. It kinda means putting the rest of my life on hold while I do it. Last night I even had to miss Jeopardy to get one done, heaven forbid! But I’ve been working for this firm for a number of years now because they pay very well, since this is actually a very specialized skill (it’s not just typing; that’s about 10% of it). I’m self-employed so can say yes or no to any work I want, plus I’m really, really good after doing this for over 20 years, so I get my pick of what work I want to do, which means that I work on the easiest, best-paying stuff. Not all of which is turn-around-as-fast-as-you-can stuff, but that tends to pay best, obviously.

MBG, I found this great neck warmer thingy that you stick in the microwave for use on Papa Tigs’ “dayum this is a stiff neck” neck. It’s really relaxing. In fact, it’s so nice, I think I’m going to go heat it up and use it myself right now.

I need this recipe. I am intrigued.

MBG duct taping Rigs to her chair… I like it! She’ll get that paper done then, by Og! Hear that young lady? Do you want us to get out the duct tape? It’s not just for Drae’s updo you know.

Ok, all the cooking for the night is done and in the various fridges. Time for dabear to go nighty nite.

Nitey nite y’all!

Off to work, everybody have fowl dreams tonight!

That’s just the thing I have. It’s a life saver!

I can’t take Motrin, damn it; everyone says it works wonders. It makes me break out in hives. I’m allergic to all the non-steriodal anti-inflamitories. I’ve taken Tylenol but it hasn’t helped much. I think I will take a Benedryl so I will go to sleep.

Mr. SCL is cooking and the house is full of yummy smells. He brought me some ice cream bars with mint chocolate coating, and Magic was trying to take it from me. Silly cat! Ice cream isn’t for cats!

I’m feeling SIL’s dogs for the next few days while she is out of town. That is one thing I have to say for doggies, they really make you feel welcome!

Off for a hot bath.

SCL, I’ll send some Vicodon through the CD slot for you. I do know a lot of people who swear by Tylenol PM.

Sounds like you’ll have a fun Friday, FCM. Can you stop by my house afterwards and do a couple of the rooms as well? I really want to start taking up the carpet and re-painting properly…

The cornbread was cheater’s cornbread, swampy, but it turned out well. I used 1 box Jiffy mix, 1 small can creamed corn (one of those single-serving ones), about 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 egg, 2 t. oil, and maybe 3 tablespoons of milk. Mixed everything together, then added about 1/4 c. raisins. Baked at 400 degrees for just over 20 minutes. I have an odd-sized pan that fits in my toaster oven. The box says you can use an 8"X8" pan for cornbread, but I think that might be too big. A loaf pan would probably work well. I just sprayed the pan with a little oil before putting the batter in it.

Crawling into bed after a pretty productive day. Laundry is just about done. And when I say done, I mean sheets, towels, clothes of all kinds, etc. Pretty much every washable item has made it through the washer. Well…except curtains. I just have to put some stuff away in the morning.

Made it to the grocery just before little brother got here (he was ringing the doorbell as I pulled into the driveway). I’m supposed to take rolls and an appetizer tomorrow. I decided to make spinach dip because I haven’t made it in ages. I managed to buy everything I needed for tomorrow and the weekend…except the spinach. :smack: Good thing they’re open most of the day tomorrow…

I’m tired…

GT

Well, I’m back, but you’re all asleep.

Dinner was made and eaten, Jericho was watched, some laundry was done (more going as I type), and the first appetizer is cooling on a rack.

For my first appetizer, I made what they calll an appetizer cheesecake. Three blocks of cream cheese, softened, about a cup and a quarter of feta cheese, oregano, chopped marinated artichoke hearts (chopped), some green onions, a clove of minced garlic, two tablespoons of the juice the artichokes were in, and three eggs. The crust is supposed to be plain bread crumbs, but I used garlic and herb fine bread crumbs.

Cream the cheese, until smooth. Add the feta, garlic, and oregano. Beat until smooth. Add three eggs and beat until just blended. Fold in the green onions, juice from artichokes, and artichoke hearts. Pour into a nine inch springform pan that you’ve already made the crust in. Bake at 325 for about 35 minutes. Cool on a rack for 30 minutes. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Cut in wedges and serve with baguette slices, crackers, or the like.

The second appetizer is very simple to make. Two blocks of cream cheese, with green onions, and Accent.

Cream softened cream cheese. Blend in two tsps of Accent. Fold in the chopped green onions. Form into a ball. Roll said ball in chopped ham or turkey. I’m gonna roll mine in crumbled bacon. It would probably be good rolled in some kinds of crumbs and herbs too. Serve with crackers.

I’m also cheating and bringing a pre-made veggie tray.

Frankly, I’ll be glad when Thanksgiving is over. Then I get slammed with all the preparation for Christmas.

Is Accent[sup]TM[/sup] still primarily monosodiumglutemate? because Adobe[sup]TM[/sup] isn’t (is it?)

I dreamed someone and I were scolding a third person by singing “Knight of the Woeful Countenance” (from Man of La Mancha) at him - then my tenant and his gf left the house to travel for the holiday and woke me up (the path is under my bedroom window) so here I am

Smokey loves ice cream, but I never give her chocolate. Her favorite is Rum Raisin (mine too, funny) but she’ll eat any of the white flavors. I drip a little onto a spoon specifically for her and she laps it right up. Kitty has a sweet tooth. and she doesn’t mind the cold, in fact I think she prefers it to room temp stuff

BooFae, you must be up by now - what have you & “'im indoors” got planned for today?

Morning each! Yes, rosie, I’m up and at work now. I’ve got lots of exciting things lined up for my day - I’m on my fifth attempt to get a bunch of people together for a committee, got web pages to move and new stuff to add, student ID cards to print and lots of other wonderfulness.

'im indoors is probably sulking today 'cos I asked him if he could change the bedding if he got five minutes spare in his packed day. He decided to take humour as sarcasm and grumbled. Silly boy! He’s between contracts at the moment and is using his time wisely, playing World of Warcraft all day…apparently he’s working on a level 25 gnome and wants to kill his friend Joe. Baffles me, so it does.

I think you lot have far too much time on your hands, I’ve had to read three whole pages of stuff on here just to reach the end! Still, the thought of exile to Tierra del Fuego isn’t so bad, it’s rocky and remote and cold. Just like being at home really. Or living in the Outer Hebrides…and for the record, I’m not fully British, I’m Cornish! We’re a whole separate entity, even got our own flag and all.

So are you all having a Happy Turkey Day?

Up bright and early here, tho not as early as rosie! I did manage to sleep till 6, and considering I usually get up at 4:45, that’s sleeping in. Bernie has been walked and fed, **FCD ** is still crashed (he got up sometime in the middle of the night to watch TV) and the rain has stopped temporarily. I took a look at the weather radar - Mom’s area is gonna get whomped (she lives about 2.25 hours north of us) so we’re in for a mostly dreary day, weather wise.

Miss Brandy likes ice cream. I should say Miss Brandy is a walking garbage disposal and a beggar. She wants everything. I can understand her begging when we have crab or salmon, but she also yowls for steak, BBQ, potato soup, popcorn, and ice cream. If I bring something edible to the computer desk, she’ll stand on the arm of the chair with her front feet on my shoulder, and she’ll yell at me. Abys are ever-so-slightly vocal…

Speaking of Abys (that’s Abyssinian, in case you’re perplexed) - the woman who gave us Miss Brandy sent out a massive email yesterday. There’s a male Aby, “very talkative,” in the shelter in Queen Anne county and she was trying to find someone to foster or adopt him. I mentioned it to FCD. He gave me the evil eye. Oh well - no new kitty for me.

We’ll be on the road within 2 hours. I need to find a way to transport all 4 pies without too much damage. Not that it matters a lot - all 4 crusts are way too dark. I’m thinking my oven temp is off. Gotta get a thermometer and check it out. Stoopit oven… Anyway, we’ll get to Mom’s by 11 or so, dinner at 2, and I hope we’re on our way home before 5. We need to rest up before our painting party…

Happy Turkey Day, MMPers and everbody!!!

:dubious:

I’m fully expecting a fire call today; some moron sets his house on fire trying to French fry a turkey…

Good morning, I am home and ready for bed. I’ll be up in a few hours to make dinner, and maybe drink some beerverages.

In case you missed it here is the Thanksgiving classic cartoon, and here is the new cartoon I did at 0200 this morning.

BooFae, I’m having Cornish hen for Thanksgiving dinner.
