First! I’m delighted for you.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 90, becomin’ cloudy late mornin’, and possible rain mid-afternoon. We shall see. I need to take care of a few errands this mornin’ which includes a trip to  Wally*World . Whilst I am out I will get the N.O.T., sallit, snausages and frozen bizkits needed for men’s night over to the church house and take them by there since I won’t be too far away from the church house. I will need to go to the place that sells the good snausages. A couple of months ago I attempted to by 'em from somewhere else and that did not go over well. Lesson learnt. Salt Lick is THE place for snausages. Then I shall be a RDOS sloth until time to head over and start prep for tonight’s festivities. Needless to say, that takes care of sup tonight.

doggio conga rats on the Canes win! I am sure you are still celebratin’ even at irk.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Fortunately, where I am goin’ most anything can be acceptable attire.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Morning all. 72F here, and supposed to be a cooler (relative term) day than usual.

Haven’t posted much, as we’ve been in a quagmire of failures and other problems for a few months.

Striving for brevity: CPAP machine failed, computer failed, air conditioner failed, 1 phone partially failed, doggy ill (strange allergic reactions), and loved one fleeing a threatening stalker.

The good news is that everything is almost back to normal. Switched to backup CPAP machine while medical system creaks along getting me a new one, contractors finally fixed the A/C, phone problems solved, doggy better, loved one is relocated and recovering, and the justice system is finally involved and proving once again that Warren Zevon was correct. The holy trinity can definitely “get me out of this.”

So… we’re enjoying some well-earned time RDOS-ing, and I’m trying to decide whether to binge Bob Newhart show, or maybe STTNG. I need something enjoyable and fun.

Hope everyone has a good week. Mine’s definitely looking better.

Here also - low 80s instead of mid 90s. It’s starting with 66 Ferrets and I’d open the house but the humidity is stoopit high. Last night after the storm, temps dropped lower than our a/c setting, but with 99% humidity (or so the web said) ain’t no way I was going to open windows. If not for FCD, I’d open up now, but he suffers much more than I do, so I’ll be nice, dammit.

YOIKS!!! :open_mouth:

Since it’ll be relatively not deadly-hot today, I’m hoping to get a good bit of yard work done. We’ll see how that goes. After the toad-soaker last night, the ground should be easy to work. First on the list is getting the border pieces installed, then transplantation shall ensue. I hope.

We went to Salsa’s for supper (It’s a fave of ours, as you might have guessed) and I tried something I hadn’t had before - Pollo Tropical. It was a grilled chicken breast under a pile of grilled onions, 'shrooms, and pineapple bits, topped with a cheese sauce, served with broccoli-and-squashes and the usual rice. Very yum! But I made the mistake of ordering a Diet Coke (just not in the mood for water) and I was awake till after midnight (stoopit caffeine!!) But I mostly slept till 6:30, so I’m sorta rested.

doggio - yay for your Canes!

OK, I’ll finish my reading then get out and get grubby.

Happy Moanday!

Its cooler today. 58 right now. Off to grocery store parking lot to beg. Elderly man is letting me use his spot. Told me to bring the chair so I could sit instead of stand.

Woo hoo! Here’s to everyone whose team won big. To quote a famous baseball announcer, “Go crazy, folks! Go crazy!”

Here in Elkhart, Indiana, it’s 55 degrees F. Later, we’ll have high of 74F, partly cloudy.

My left hearing aid, which has been on-again, off-again, is working today.

doggio, well, I guess somebody had to win the Cup… Seriously, Carolina rampaged through the playoffs (16-3 record if I add correctly) and won it in fine style. My conga-rats to them.

As for me, my body has decided that getting up at 6:30am is the new plan, I don’t remember signing up for this but so far it’s working out OK. The agenda is pretty clear for the week, I’ll be involved in the Youth Soccer tournament from Thursday-Sunday so that will take up a fair amount of time and energy. Also have to decide and book rooms if I want to get a July vacation in. At least the weather is nice for today, little chance of rain and 80F the high (rain is due Thursday and Friday).

yanker, that is not a streak of bad luck, that is a year’s worth of Soap Opera tragedy’s! I’m glad your stuff (and doggy) are responding well to treatment (and $$) and that loved one is (I hope) safer. But I wouldn’t take the risk of gambling in Havana anytime soon…

Yay on the hearing aid, Knots. If I don’t clean mine regularly it gets very quiet until I do so, then works fine.

And onward into the week. Have a good one all.

Good morning.

It’s 62F and sunny outside. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies by afternoon, with a daytime high of 93F. We hit 90F yesterday, so the afternoon was spent sitting under the ceiling fan.

Doggio, congrats to your team.

Pullin, that is a lot. I am glad to see things have improved.

JtC, I read about your outing with Harry and the tea that was spilled. I’m glad Harry is staying.

I did not get to do any transplanting or rearranging yesterday. I did go out and water everything, but craptastic neighbors had a bunch of people over for the weekend, including kids. The next part is going to sound very “Get offa mah lawn!”, so skip ahead if you want.

These kids are squealers and yellers. Yes, I’m aware that kids yell while outside; I raised two of my own. However, I did teach them that constant squealing is not acceptable. I think these kids wouldn’t have bothered me so much, but for the fact that the asshats next door let them stay out past 11:00 p.m., squealing the night before. I was already annoyed. And then, my quiet garden time was ruined. I tried earbuds, but one of those kids reaches a pitch that goes through the earbuds. Last night, they were still yelling outside at 10:00 p.m. By the way, the screaming and yelling began at 9:00 a.m. and, except for one brief 10-minute respite at around 6:00 p.m., never stopped.

Again, I get that kids play, but this was brutal. There was also another one who broke into screaming tears every 10 minutes. It was just…a lot. The adults were either not supervising or just did not GAF.

I am hoping to get into the yard today, but we shall see.

Yesterday, I was out the door by 8:00 a.m. and at the grocery store for salad and potato salad fixings. I also bought a rack of pork back ribs. Last night, we had the green salad for dinner (mix-ins included avocado, chopped egg, pea pods, yellow bell pepper, cucumber, and a bit of chopped apple. Twas refreshing and delicious. I also had purchased an amazing watermelon, and we had some of that during the day.

Today, I’ll make tater salad, and my husband will grill the ribs.

I guess it’s that time. Please take care of yourselves.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 20c/67f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “Loitering fucking clouds.”

doggio conga-rats on the win! Were you and Spot celebrating with the top-shelf gin?

After my quiet weekend, it was back to the grindstone this morning. After tending to the needs of cats, washing my hair and having some breakfast, I watched last week’s neurodiversity training webinar so I’ve now completed that block of the training. There’s another session tomorrow that I’ll have to watch on catch-up because I have other things to be doing.

I’ve been out to do the grocery shopping, written up minutes from last week’s dept meeting, circulated some meeting info for Wednesday’s exam boards, added a bunch of people to the Canvas page they need to be on, and added our new Team Manager to lots of stuff. Did I mention we finally have a new Team Manager? She comes from our Registry section so she already knows a lot as far as systems are concerned, now we need to teach her about what we actually do.

'im indoors is making dinner tonight and I’m off to a Spin class at the gym later, when I feel like I’m sufficiently topped-up with tea

I am very very happy too, but tired. Also very pleased for Rod. He deserves this.

Thank Og! Hope things continue to improve.

Congrats on the Stanley Cup celebrations, doggio.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, sheveled and fixing to do KP. Sis and BIL should be here sometime this morning to help with a couple of projects, but otherwise, RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I think I’ve done a bit more than an hour of labor so far.
Imgur
FCD lent his eye to lining up the border - he’s lots better at that than I am. I’ve placed them and bedded them in with several buckets of dirt. Next step is planting/transplanting.

Imgur
The boards are from the raised beds. I think there are just 4 more to dig up. Meanwhile, I need to move the dirt around so the former gardens are level with the yard. Then seeding, and lush green. Right? Right??

Unless Otis decides to dig. At the moment, he’s crashed next to me. When we’re outside, he finds shade and chews on hunks of branches that fell during last night’s storm.

Once I cool down and rehydrate, I’ll get back to it. I think transplanting will be next.

I started out clerking the undeliverables and futures, did the 100 and 300 Sort tables, and back to clerking the last few packages. Short day, then gassed up Carmen, and did my Aldi run. I had dry, flavorless bits with strawberries for breakfast, and i chopped up a peach(Not Ms. Peach) to go with it. I shall take a good long nap, since I’m in a lull for all my sportsballs at the moment.

Indeed. Maybe next year they can win the Stanley Plate and Bowl as well.

I should hope so, that’s a Job like rash of misfortune. Welcome back.

Both, likely. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Yes.

Both are better than going full Hannibal Lector on the local wildlife and poultry.

doggio congrats on your Canes winning! And I see Spot was supervising the taking of that photo based on the lower right shadow.

Holy #&@*!! AND THEY DON’T EVEN OWN THE HOUSE?! 'Scuse me, I feel the vapors coming on and need to lay down…

I’ve had that argument many times with my (now ex) husband. The only thing that finally ended the argument once and for all was taking the dog back to the vet and having one of the techs show us how much medicine to use.

AskNott sorry to hear that about no electricity - I hope it wasn’t too uncomfortable!

pullin that sounds terrible and a lot to be dealing with. You’ve earned a break.

I’ve been watching videos of the football fans that have come to the US for the World Cup and it’s been quite enjoyable. The reaction videos of Europeans visiting the US for the first time have also been funny. So if you need something to brighten your day might be something the look for.

quite the storm last night. it really cleared the air and today is a cooler, very clear day. the views in the office are amazing.

the only fauna i have to interact with during the shopping trip are people, seagulls, and the occasional goose. the crows and raptors are well behaved.

tonight there is too much going on. yet another condo meeting, an asl lesson, and i am hoping to get in a water change in the new tank. the water hyacinth is not doing well and has been removed. i am contemplating bottom dwellers for the tank.

dogbutler, is there a celebration planned for the team?

Good morning, all. It was a cool 62ºF and clear this morning. There were rabbits galore on our walk. Chloé engaged in quite a bit of Lepus coitus Canis interruptus.

It was cool enough that I was able to open the windows for a bit. It was also humid enough that the dehumidifier is running nearly non-stop. The lawn guys are finally here now. They had to skip last week because of all the rain. The grass is tall enough, I’ve been keeping an eye our for tigers.

The plumber should be here shortly to install the new toilets. We’d have to get an electrician in to do a bidet seat, so we’re putting that off. My mother had one. It felt odd, but the heated seat…

In other news:

The votes are in and the email is sent to the mods. We’ll see what happens.

Doggio Congrats on the ‘Canes’ win. The Cup had better make it it to Cloo’s at least once.

Yanker - Welcome back, and I’m glad your loved one is safe. I’ve been in their position. It is Not FunTM.

Taters Good call on the ribs. I’ll grab some on my next Costco run for when Fang is home.

FCM - Nice border work. No matter how much I level and pack or how many tutorials I watch, they always look like crap when I do them.

And I quit. I figure I did between 3 and 4 hours of significant physical labor and my back is starting to protest. Plus I’ve finished moving some stuff into the new bed.
Imgur
Next year, I’ll have some colorful annuals but this year, I’m just hoping the day lilies and iris will get established. I did figure out (I think) why there were hardly any blooms among the lilies and iris - there are 2 different plants that were choking them out. With luck, they’ll do better in a non-choking situation.

I still have a few more to move - they’ll go in the bed nearest the deck. Then I’ll put liriope along the outside of the border - it will make mowing easier. That’s a chore for tomorrow.

well done, fcm!

I missed that detail! Thx for pointing it out - very cute to see.
