BooFae, you’re Cornish? Pass me a pastey through the CD drive would you? That’s a dear.
Well, TheGirlChild and her gang were here last night for a ‘dine and dip’ and went home. They’re on their way down south to have Turkey with Son-in-law’s family. TheBoyChild and his gang are here. BoyChild and #1Grandson are playing Clue. #2Granddaughter is reading a book and Daughter-in-law is walking their dog.
The bird is in the oven and pumpkin pies are cooked. Crusts are perfect by the way. We put tin foil around the edges. Yams are on the boil for casserole.
The Macy’s parade is on the TV. Who cares? When did the parade stop being about the floats and bands and start to be about bad singers and dance routines. Although Julie Andrews was on a bit ago. Always nice to see her.
Turkey, dressing, gravy, asparagus and pear salads have been consumed. I am very full. All the cats are ganging up at the door to the house - I think they are considering making a break for the kitchen. They have already been given some ham - they may get some turkey later.
Now I believe I will snooze for a while. I have to be at the Civic Center at 6, cause I’m selling picture buttons and taking picture orders tonight.
BibKitty dinner was at one p.m. We festivated a couple hours before. Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas and munchies abounded. The verbs returned. Much food was consumed. Several people (da bear and da s.o. included) took turkey induced snoozes in the living room afterwards. Seriously, I was in my recliner, people were on the sofas or stretched out on the floor snoozin’ away for an hour. Afterwards, dessert was consumed.
The kitchen is all clean. The dishwasher is full of clean dishes which I suppose I should put away. Tomorrow morning I am headed up to north Jawja to spend the weekend with mom, sis and the brethren. ACBG is headed over to west Alabammy to do the same. He went home to get all packed up and is staying at his place. Tomorrow we shall meet up for breakfast then head our separate ways. I’m taking a batch of N.O.T. salad with me. I coulda made it there but I made it yesterday in the midst of the cooking frenzy instead. Don’t worry. It’ll be iced down for the trip so I won’t poison my family. That wouldn’t be nice, and I’m nice, dammit!
Hope everybody had a nice Turkey Day or good Thursday as the case may be. There may be sleepification happening in the not to distant future for me. I’m tahred and still have turkey hangover.
Believe it or not, you can make turkey any time. You don’t have to wait till thanksgiving. No, really, it’s true!!!
Home from Mom’s, stuffed and relaxing. Critters are fed and happy to have us home. The only leftovers I brought were several pieces of my pies and a hunk of incredibly decadent chocolate cake that my sister brought.
**FCD ** is crashed in bed, watching TV. I’ve got a load of unders in the washer. It’ll probably be an early night. Hope everyone had a good day, whether it was a holiday or not.
The boldface starts right after you sang Happy B-Day to Bibs.
Any hallucinations I might be having right now would be caused by too much turkey. I had a boring day, just the way I like 'em.
There was a big fire in the next county to the east, and a multi-car wreck that the Hooterville-NC station was called to, but no morons have yet burned down the house frenchfrying turkeys today.
Oh, we had a really interesting conversation at dinner, although I’m not sure how it all got started. At one point, someone said something about where elephants go to die, which prompted someone else to share this story:
A couple of doctoral candidates were studying moose in their natural habitat as part of their thesis. They noticed that with regularity, moose would go off in pairs. They assumed it was part of the mating ritual, and one day they followed a pair. They were surprised to discover that rather than mating, the animals were getting away from the herd in order to relieve themselves - taking a potty break, if you will. Because of this discovery, their research took a different turn.
Naturally, they titled their paper “Two Moose Loo Trek.”
Yeah, but making a turkey without a special occasion to give a good and proper excuse – well, it’s just not the same. Turkey is great and all, but thanksgiving turkey, with stuffing and potatoes and all that is good and right with such a feast, that just has that extra dash of spice.
Bah! I think I’ve come down with a little unspecified something. Not a cold. I don’t feel sick – not exactly. But I have slight chills and occasional and very mild dizzy spells that only last the briefest of seconds, but are there just the same. My skin has gotten all sensitive too, and for some reason I have the constant urge to stretch, and I’ve been tired and yawning all day. Icky. I think I need to turn in early tonight.
Home from the feast. We even got to bring leftovers with us. Everything was yummy. Now I’m sleepy and am going to bed. Sounds like everyone had a pretty nice day.
Well, the Snakes lost 5-3. We actually played a game against Knoxville with not a single fight, which I do not ever remember happening.
I snoozed this afternoon, so I am not in the least bit sleepy now. I’m sippin’ on a glass of Bailey’s and will soon go soak in a hot bath. I am still full from the late lunch, so no dinner for me!
We had a very nice time over at my sister and BIL’s house. She had quite a houseful of people there! At times, it was kind of hard to move around in there.
The food was good and plentiful. The appetizers I brought were consumed with great gusto, along with the turkey, ham, mashed taters, yam casserole, green beens with bacon, gravy, green beans with salsa, corn, rolls, various pies, and various cakes.
The drive there only took a little over an hour. Traffic started to back up about two miles from the Narrows bridge, but once we crossed the bridge it was fine. The drive home only took about 35 minutes, so that was even better. Two years ago, it took us over three hours to get there, so I was well pleased with today’s trip.
I’m working tomorrow, but I so don’t want to! I could have taken leave, but am hording it for another time. It’ll be quiet at work, so hopefully, I’ll get stuff accomplished.
I think I’m gonna veg in front of the TV for awhile.
Mr. Lissar is out drinking green tea, I am home from work, we both need to pack, and I’m going underwear shopping with QD tomorrow. That’s an essentially feminine activity, isn’t it? I can’t think of any masculine parallels.
Turkey Dinner was good. All the usual goodness. I am still stuffed.
We also had five desserts. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake (which had the birthday candles in it), apple crisp, wildberry pie and some insanely delicious granola/walnut/chocolate chip pie that my niece made. I tasted all of them. <burp>
The birthday was good, too. Couple of Barnes & Noble gift certificates, some Brown Sugar & Fig shower gel and body spray from Bath & Body Works, a few fancy kitchen towels and the fourth season of * Northern Exposure*. I like that best!
Yes it can be an interesting job, gt, but there are times when it’s completely manic and repetitive. The good news is that I’m the only team member in the office today so I’m in charge! Woohoo!
Bumba - pastie on it’s way although I’m sure you’re still stuffed from all that turkey…of course it won’t be a completely authentic pastie because it’s only made by a Cornish person, and not made in Cornwall.
I made the tooth-rottingly sweet sweaterpie last night, 'im indoors wasn’t sure he wanted any because he didn’t think he liked pecans (he’s never had any pecans, so what’s he’s basing his assumption on is anybody’s guess). Anyway, I suspect he’ll be having some today in between shooting things and generally sitting about on his arse playing WoW.
BibKitty, are you me? I got my birthday presents from little brother, his ex and their kids yesterday: BN gift card and a couple of brown sugar & fig products were featured. (Also got some tea light holders and a pretty journal.)
Hope your bolding/vision issue is fixed today, Bobbio. <—It’s OK if your name is the only item that looks bold in this line.
Well, I probably need to get moving here, since I’m supposed to be at work in about an hour, which means I need to be out the door in about 1/2 an hour…
