The bumping against the door thing is fun, isn’t it? My brother used to have cats who did this. When I would go visit, I’d sleep in “their” room, but would close the door (since I’m allergic to cats and didn’t want them sleeping on me). They did not appreciate this.
Apples to Apples sounds like a good game. Maybe I’ll get it for FarAway Best Friend and her family. They really like games and I’m pretty sure they don’t have it. Also, I’m thinking about getting a couple of games to take to my Mom’s for Christmas. Niece and Nephew will be there and they’re at an age where they’re outgrowing toys but both like and can play games. I bought one of those family board game kits (9 games in one kit, or something) a couple years ago so that we have lots to do when they’re here. They like Jenga, too. I’m thinking about getting both for Mom’s house, since I’m pretty sure the only things she has are dominos (dominoes?) and maybe Monopoly. Saw a game set in a nifty little metal suitcase at Target.
In the mundane pointless dreams department: Dreamt that my cell phone had been charging all night and wasn’t quite done. I blame my brother who lost his car charger the other day and was wandering around with a phone that was running out of juice (he uses it A LOT). Also, I’ve been thinking about replacing mine. Also, at one point, I dreamt it was ringing. And, now that I think about it, I dreamt that someone was holding that nifty little metal suitcase with games. Apparently my life is so fascinating that my dreams have to be boring. :dubious:
What? It’s Rue’s birthday? ::Runs around madly getting party decorations together::
[sub][/sub]Happy Birthday Rue the Story Guy!!![sub][/sub]
Done surfing for a new phone (for the moment). Pondering how much I’m willing to spend (I’ve gotten a free phone previously and not been very happy with them; I use it quite a bit, so I’m looking for something a bit better; i’ve been reading reviews, but it’s hard since they mostly focus on features and not things like…sound quality…arghhhhh).
Hmmm…do I point out to these people that most of the words stolen are definite articles and not verbs at all?
BooFae --can we switch places? You sound very er, republican (small r). I like the Royals. You get to gossip about them and not feel cheap like you do when you gossip about trash like Britney Spears.
I’d say it’s tit for tat re the adultery thing. Lord knows Charles wasn’t faithful, probably ever. It won’t be the first time (and don’t ask me when the first time was-I took Brit history 20 years ago) that a Royal wasn’t um, fully Royal.
I need to be productive today-so far it is not happening. I like the idea of choc cake for breakfast. I’m jonesing for some brownies, myself.
happy birthday to this Rue-type person, too. I suppose…
Nothing too exciting going on here at the Taters household. I need to start cleaning the house soon. Woo-hoo! Isn’t that exciting?
My sister who lives in Beaverton, Oregon is coming here today. I’m not quite sure what we’ll do. We’ll find something, I’m sure.
For now, I’m just going to cruise the boards for a while and drink some coffee. I had another night of strange dreams, none of which made any sense at all.
It’s not raining, for once. However, another storm is moving in, which may or may not dump some snow. It’ll depend on how the low front from the ocean comes in. If it moves in from the south, it’ll draw the cold air that has been hovering over Alaska and Canada down and give us some snow. If the low moves in further up north, we probably won’t see any snow. Conditions have to be absolutely perfect for us to get snow down here in the lowlands.
Now that I’ve given you some Pacific Northwest climate lessons, I’ll cruise the boards for awhile. See, I can be all edjamacational like too.
I have one cat who thinks she has opposable thumbs. She reaches up and places both paws around the doorknob and rattles it. Quite clever, but she just can’t quite get it open.
Can I have the chocolate cake? I don’t like peaches at all. I’ll bring coffee.
ScareyFaerie, doesn’t Harry look a lot like his mom’s side? I always thought that he took after Diana’s brother. Not that I really care, but do people really think he’s not Charles’ kid?
Our weather is unbelievably beautiful and supposed to stay that way through tomorrow, at least. I should be outside, but I’m not quite there yet. Got a bit of clean-up to do first.
Anyhoo, I just remembered my amazingly important kitchen discovery. My immersion blender includes a little food processor thingie. I’d never used it because my dear departed food processor had two bowls, one large and one small. My new one, while nice, only has one large bowl. I happened to spot the little bowl when I was getting ready to make the spinach dip the other day. And it works marvelously! My recipe calls for grinding up the vegetable soup mix, so I needed something that would deal with a small quantity.
And this morning, I’m making my cranberry sauce (my friends had a cranberry jell-o mold, which was fine, but not the same; I’m addicted to my cranberry sauce, so I had to make some). Anyway, the sauce requires chopping up 1/2 an orange and 1/2 a lemon and the little food processor thingie worked wonderfully.
Yay for food processor attachments! (Yes, I am a cooking dork, why do you ask?)
Taters, my mom in Issaquah reported this morning that they’ve had snow mixed with rain. She’s at a bit higher elevation than you are, however.
I knew a cat who could open doors. He’d jump up and hook his paws over the doorknob and twist back and forth till the door opened. It was always amazing to watch him to it.
We’re having gorgeous sunny weather again today. Papa Tigs and the pups are off swimming. Personally, I don’t think swimming in 55° weather is fun, but the idiot dogs just LOVE it when it’s cold. I’m just glad I’m not the one taking them, since our golden retriever’s favorite activity at the beach is to run out of the water up to a person and shake himself off. Thereby, of course, transferring most of the water from his coat to the person. Stupid dog.
I got the vacuum cleaner out a while ago and vacuumed two rooms, but then decided that was enough and am not resting on my laurels. Hey, it’s only fair that Papa Tigs vacuums, considering how much I have to clean up the kitchen behind him, right? He gets it manclean, too. Apparently he’s incapable of noticing all the stuff spilled on the stove. Sigh.
Mama Tiger, I’m not surprised, and I’m sure we’ll see that too. Issaquah is most definitely a bit higher in elevation than where I live. I don’t live in the Valley though, I live on South Hill, so tend to get snow too.
Believe me, though, I’m not really looking for it. I’ve got stuff to do and places to go, especially tomorrow. I need to run down to Borders and buy a couple of books on some software that I run at work.
I suppose I should get in the shower and get myself cleaned up. I need to start cleaning the house, and I can start right in the shower stall. I’m one of those weirdos who cleans the shower while she’s in it. Hey, I don’t get my clothes wet, and it’s easier that way!
Mr. Taters is fixing to head out and buy hooks to hang lights outside. We can’t find the hooks from last year.
So, at least the front of the house will start to look all holiday-ish. I need to start pulling the stuff out for inside, but maybe I’ll do that tomorrow. I need to clean today.
God help us all-my husband has started cleaning out the basement.
Fun side is that I went thru some old stuff in this old desk and found not one, not two, but three different resignation letters from three different times/hospitals.
D’ya think they might be a SIGN? heh.
I have written to the prof about my paper-and I’m hot on the trail for a book that might help me a great deal. Now if only people [del]obsessed like I do[/del] worked on holiday weekends…
Mr. SCL is at work, so I have the house to myself and I am not doing a damn thing. The Snakes play at 7:30 tonight, so in a few hours I have to go get dressed. Until then I will laze around with cats and surf the Dope.
The eye feels a lot better (I know you are all wondering) but it still looks nasty. Bruises can turn an amazing number of colors. The bright yellow is my least favorite at the moment. Looks remarkably like chicken skin without the bumps.
I’m up and getting ready to go back to work. My verbs have come back, so all is less unwell. I have to leave my doors open. Lucretia likes to hook a paw under the closed ones and slam them until I open them up.
Tater, is your husband like the guy in Bob River’s Twisted Christmas: NOW THEY’RE BLINKING! WHY ARE THEY BLINKING?
Rebo, hope you feel soon. :shoves Gatorade, Pepto, and Imodium through CD slot:
It’s been a good, if lazy day. I need to run downstairs shortly and toss the last load of clothes into the dryer. **FCD ** did a little tidying on the boat, but he came home early. We ran to Lowe’s and got a sink cabinet for the basement bathroom, plus most of what we need to build the guest room closet. He’s crashed out right now.
Once I transfer the wet clothes, I’ll take Bernie out for her afternoon constitutional. Then I’ll build a peach french toast casserole for tomorrow. I may bake a couple of punkin pies, too, since *someone * ate all 4 pieces we brought home from Mom’s.
Tomorrow is supposed to be nice again, so we’ll get rid of the fence then. And we’ll unload the van - neither of us felt like dealing with it when we got home from Lowe’s.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Exactly! He and my son are out there right now trying to figure out which bulbs are bad in a string of icicle lights. Some are lit, some aren’t, all along the same string.
I love Bob Rivers and his crew. I listen to them every morning. Their Christmas albums are so funny, along with the rest of their twisted tunes.
