How I became a sorta Buckeye: a scarlet and gray MMP

Hey Y’all! I’m hoooooooooooome!!! Ok, I’ve been home since about noon today but I’ve been busy. I had to do laundry after all. Oh, and Circuit City had a thrity two inch flat screen tv on sale that was calling my name, so I went out and bought it for the bedroom. I drafted a friend to help me unload it at the swampcave. That involved moving the old tv from the bedroom, setting new tv where old tv was, moving old tv into the guest room, taking the tv that was in the guest room (old bedroom tv now lives there) and bringing it into the breakfast area, moving the breakfast area tv, and putting old guest room tv there. Old breakfast room tv is in the storage building because ACBG is going to take it with him when he goes back to west Alabammy for Christmas to give to his niece who will put it in her son’s bedroom. Everybody get that? Then I had to program new bedroom tv. It looks real jake in there. I am going to replace all my tvs with flat screens over the next couple years. I have four to go.

Family visitatin’ went well. Much food was consumed. Much fun was had. Last night I had an adventure which I shall relate in the new MMP. Here’s a teaser… it involves redneck bikers, a birthday party, fire, beer and a chainsaw.

Nitey nite all!

I went for the nap. I haven’t done anything beyond walking Maggie today. I am having steal, baked sweet N.O.T., and corn on the cob. Tomorrow is a day off, Woo Hoo!

swampy, I’m holding out for cheaper flat screens.

Mama Tigs, I guess you shouldn’t look under my burner rings, then.

SCL, would Nytol help?

DB, I got some Nytol today. Hope it helps. “Steal” for dinner, huh? Someone has been watching too much hockey.

SCL, also, have you tried melatonin? It’s worked well for some of my friends with sleeping issues.

Sorry to hear about the mom fuss, Puggy. That’s always stressful. My mom has mellowed over time (thank heavens!), but she can be…how to put this diplomatically?..challenging.

Welcome back, swampy! (It’s not nice to tease.) I’m getting close to the point where I need to replace my TV. It works OK, but the picture isn’t the best anymore and the color is sometimes a bit off. It’s almost 16 years old, so I’ve gotten a lot of use out of it, but my niece and nephew tend to want to watch movies on the computer instead, so I think that’s a good sign that it’s time for it to go. Not sure what I’ll do with it. I barely watch TV other than to watch DVDs, so one is plenty.

I’ve been very good. Raked up all the leaves and put them out on the curb lawn (I’m hoping they’ll finally be by to vacuum them; my other leaves have been sitting for two weeks). Also got rid of more plants from containers. I have some plants that need to go in the ground. I’ll find them a temporary home and then move them around in the spring. Found a couple of plants in containers that need to be planted as well.

Did my holiday shopping season strategy of shopping during dinner on Sunday.

Went to Barnes & Noble to buy myself birthday presents with my gift card. I got two cookbooks that have been on my list for a while. Had a 15% coupon and saved another bunch with my membership card. Wound up paying $5 for $70 worth of cookbooks. Yay!

Also went to Wild Oats for yogurt and bread and salad stuff.

Dinner was spinach dip with various crackers and cranberry sauce. Brunch was a ginormous plate of huevos rancheros that were enough food for most of the day, but I got a little bit hungry just now.

Well…gotta do a bit more laundry (the clothes I wore in the garden), put away skivvies (no significant holes) - that’s the only part of the laundry I haven’t put away. I’m watching Sabrina (the newer one) for the umpteen gazillionth time - it’s a good background movie.

GT

A typical Georgia weekend then? ('cept for the dogs.)

Swampy, I envy you your flat screenedness.

SCL, Wifey uses melatonin and it works for her.

Got dammall done today except went to the hardware store and got ground rods to ground the subpanel in the new shop, then pounded one of them into the ground. what fun.

The letter ‘P’ on this (Wifey’s laptop is going wonky. I have to really wack it to get it to register, so If you notice any funny spelling here and there, That’s why. I’m really gonna hate it if I have to get this thing fixed.

Later.

Actually, I don’t think I can fairly blame Papa Tigs for everything under the burners. Our landlord, a single guy, lived here with three of his buddies before renting the house to us. So I can 100% guarantee you that virtually anything in the house will be returned to him cleaner than it was when we moved in. You would not believe the water scale I scrubbed off the bathrooms, for example. And we won’t even discuss the state of the oven. (Which is self-cleaning – all they would have had to do is close the door and push a button, but apparently even that was beyond their capabilities.)

Any time a chain saw is included, it’s a good tease. Welcome home, Swampy! We’ve upgraded two of our TVs to flat screens, but still have one to go. And that one works well enough and has a close enough to flat screen that it’s really hard to justify replacing it. Although I’m sure when the prices drop a bit more, it won’t be all that difficult.

Oh, I was very excited this afternoon to turn on the TV at random and discover – curling! I was one of many, many people to become quite addicted to it during the Olympics, and so it was a delight to see it again. I hope they show more of it. It’s a great thing to have on when I’m doing other stuff because it doesn’t require a lot of concentration, plus it looks fun. I’ll have to try it one of these days. If I can ever find some ice to try it on. I wonder if there’s any curling in the DC area. There ought to be, with the variety of people around here.
