No, I’m just trying to raise the quality of the neighborhood. I’m starting to rethink it in your case…
I’m off to get churchified. I’ll say an extra special prayer for you.

Somehow, the sincerity in that last comment rings hollow…
Now, now, Bobbio and FCM…do we have to separate you? (Where’s swampy when you need him? Off visiting fambly! Such priorities.) I’ll be saying a special prayer this morning for both of you.
rigs, I like the narration and I like that he’s more of a grown-up than most of the adults around him. His ability to convincingly bond with all different people and remain a sincere and kind person is really appealing. I looked the actor up on IMDB and he only acted in a few films - he wasn’t interested in acting anymore. On the one hand, it’s a shame; it would have been interesting to see him develop as an actor. On the other, he seems to have tried to live a really normal life while he was acting and it would have been hard to keep that up.
What did we do before IMDB? I look something up - sometimes multiple somethings - almost any time I watch a movie, even if it’s a movie I’ve seen a bazillion times.
OK, now I’m worried. A) I’m getting old and forgetful (although, in other venues I could argue: pronouns, verbs, they’re all parts of the language, but noooooooooooo, not on the Dope where all sorts of people know the difference and can even identify less well-known parts such as definite articles); and B) we had an unknown verb-stealer among us.
I’m eating pumpkin pie for breakfast. It’s a special extra fancy pumpkin pie with a layer of pumpkin custard and a layer of pumpkin mousse and then pecans and walnuts on top. (Unfortunately it’s from a bakery, so I don’t have the recipe.) It’s wonderful because it’s spiced just like pumpkin pie (so I don’t miss that required element of Thanksgiving), but has a different texture. The mousse isn’t too mousse-y, so it all fits together nicely.
Well…off to get stuff done.

BibKitty, “manclean” is not my word. I saw it somewhere in the past week and stole it for myself; I would have credited whoever I stole it from if I could remember where I got it. It really is the perfect word sometimes, isn’t it?
I’ve really got nuthin’ this morning. Watched penguins marching on TV last night, ent to bed fairly early, slept well, got up, am now sitting here contemplating doing as little as possible today. My horoscope says I should be all excited about rearranging/redecorating the house. Does vacuuming up the rest of the dog hair count as redecorating?
Mama Tiger, since the dogs have chosen to decorate with dog hair, of course vacumning is redecorating!
I am tired of not being able to sleep. I can’t remember the last night I slept more than two hours in a row without waking - and it’s not just because lack of sleep is fogging my memory. Someone recommended Tylenol PM; I think I’m going to have to get some today. I was awake until 5, when I adjourned to the sofa because of Mr. SCL’s snoring. (note to self - pick up some snore strips, too.) I woke again at 7, at 8:45, at 10:30 and was up for good at 11:50. I am very, very groggy. I need to go to the store but I honestly don’t want to drive. Not having health insurance really sucks. I want some sleeping pills.
A local store has Crocs for “buy one get one 50% off”. I’m going to check prices and see if that’s what I want for my birthday.
I may take a nap - I know it is bad for my night time sleep cycle but I am so groggy…
I believe the term “manclean” was thrown into this very thread earlier in the week by our own ScareyFaerie .
I’m home from church and brunch and am trying to get the energy together to go outside and work in the garden. I probably have at least 3 hours worth of work to do, which gets me pretty close to dusk.
I feel kinda sleepy, which makes no sense since I just had about 6 cups of coffee with brunch. It was decaf, but still, it was brewed and strong and had at least some caffeine in it.
So maybe a short nap and then outside. It’s supposed to be nice a couple more days and then cool off and possibly snow, so today is pretty much my last opportunity to get some serious gardening done.
Back later.

On Friday, I had the BEST shopping trip ever! Mervin’s is going out of business, so I drove to the Redmond store. (I don’t usually cross the lake; there is no life east of I-5) The traffic was so light, it was 65 MPH all the way. When I got there, the parking lot was packed. I pulled in and got a space 5 from the door.
Inside, I was looking for stuff for hubby, like sweats and 501 Levi’s. I found one pair of 501s in his size. Then I found sweats in his size, and a wallet. It was all 55% off. When I was ready to check out, an new check stand opened. I spent less for all of that than I would normally pay for one pair of 501s.
When I went to the parking lot, the SUV to the driver’s side had just pulled out, so I didn’t have to struggle into the car. The trip home was just as smooth as the one going.
Hubby loved everything and it all fit. (The wallet is for Christmas.) I am so proud. I hate shopping, now I may just try it again sometime… soon…
Wow, I wish every shopping trip were like that!
Took a nap. Am making tea and then hitting the great outdoors.

Ah, thank you, GT! I knew I’d seen it recently! And, as it turned out, it was definitely appropriate – Papa Tigs had let something boil over the other day, so he “cleaned” under the burner. Mind you, that only meant he cleaned up the actual spilled liquid – he didn’t touch the stuff gunking up the edges of the burner pan or, for that matter, the stuff gunking up the edges of the other burner pans that somehow got there in the few days since I last scrubbed the stove. It is now clean clean, not just manclean. And I honestly fear he can’t see the difference. Sigh.
I still remember when we first got married and I joined him in his spacious 500-sq-foot apartment in Japan, which had a separate WC for the toilet. He assured me he’d cleaned it.
The next day, while he was at work, I spent six hours on my hands and knees with an old toothbrush, toothpicks, and anything else I could use to dig into all the cracks to dig out the gunk that made it smell really awful. And he honestly never noticed the difference. But I did, especially when we got our deposit back in full when we moved out, first time a gaijin had ever succeeded in doing that, according to the naval base interpreter who was there translating for the realty agent. It’s amazing how triumphantly vindicated I felt over such a silly thing…
I didn’t do any more vacuuming – I’ve done all the carpets, when Papa Tigs gets home from Sam’s he can walk around the wood floors getting the clumps of dog hair that tend to accumulate in drifts depending on the air flow. But I did clean off my desk, which was a chore I’d put off too long. It’s funny, when I worked in an office, my desk was spotless all the time. Here at home? I let stuff pile up in drifts. I don’t know why the difference, but I certainly can’t deny it.
Good day everyone.
We had a very nice visit with my sister from Beaverton. We ate some pizza, went to the liquor store, picked up some munchies, played Full Tilt Video Texas Hold 'Em, and watched a couple of movies. We imbibed adult beverages the whole time. We laughed and laughed.
She just left. Today’s plans call for possibly going out for an omelette, grocery shopping, and putzing around the house.
It snowed here, but it’s pretty much melted off now. The folks who live north of Everett got the brunt of it. They say it’ll continue to snow up there today. Frankly, they can have it.
We may get some more snow overnight here, but I’m not counting on it.
Well, I should go dry and flat iron my hair now. I really wish sometimes that it was fashionable for women to be bald. I get so sick of messing with my hair.
Hey all!
I kinda took a day off yesterday…between running around to get thigns to put up around the house, then PUTTING things up around the house, I was out of commission most of the day.
Today is gorgeous out here! I took a ride on the bike that I thought had been packed away for the season…right now it’s 64 out.
We’re running to the neighbor’s to watch football in just a minute. Back later on…
I feel so much better today!
I’ve done the menu planning, coupon sorting, and grocery shopping. Poke chops for dinner! Later this week, we’ll have pot roast (made in the new pressure cooker hubby got on sale on Black Friday.) And some salmon, and sketties, and I forget what else…
I stripped all the meat off the turkey carcass and froze it. We’ll have turkey soup in a couple of weeks.
I have to go in to work to turn in some paperwork for our new retirement plan. So I’ll call ahead and plan lunch with everybody.
Poor Mr Rebo has to go back to work tomorrow. He’s had all week off, and got a lot accomplished on the window installation, and prep for new siding. He’s amazing!
See y’all manana!
The longest and worst section of the split rail fence is down. The rails are in one pile, and the posts in another. We’re going to erect a couple of sections of fence to divide the landscaped part of the back yard from mother nature’s part of the yard. I’m hoping we can reuse about a dozen of the posts, but we may have to buy a few.
After stacking that stuff, I backed the trailer to the bottom of the yard where we loaded some icky old cedar for a trek to the dump - they have a place where you can dump yard waste and they mulch it up, so it doesn’t go into the landfill. **FCD ** hurt his back, so he wasn’t up to loading much, and he wouldn’t let me do it myself, so we came inside. I’ll finish loading it tomorrow after work.
We were going to install the sink cabinet in the basement bathroom, but we discovered that the water lines and drain interfered. So we ran to the hardware store for a couple of PVC couplings - **FCD ** will redo the plumbing this week, and then we can install the cabinet. We’ll have to return to Lowe’s for a sheet of MDF for the countertop - we’ll get that after we get rid of the yard waste, so next weekend, the basement bathroom should be all done.
I’ve also bagged 5-1# portions of shrimp for the freezer. Then I cooked another 5# of shrimp - we ate some for lunch, and I chopped up the rest for shrimp salad. When I feed the critters, I’ll load the dishwasher and finish cleaning the kitchen. And that should pretty much wrap up my day and my weekend. It was fun while it lasted.
Oh, and the punkin pie I made yesterday is yummerrific - in case you were wondering.

It’s Sunday night and I’ve done naff all today except grocery shopping, chatted to a friend about the first couple of days with her shiny new kitten, swapped texts with another friend who isn’t yet able to string a proper sentence together (apparently it’s all my fault for making her drink gluhwein yesterday…), made curry and I’m just running a bath for a nice soak before heading off to bed. It’s been a long day…
**ScareyFaerie ** - you’re starting the MMP tomorrow, right?? Don’t worry or feel pressured - the Russian judge is always tough but most of the rest are fair, if not generous!

It is a beautiful day here! About 70 degrees with sunshine and blue skies.
I did nap for about an hour, but I got up and went shopping - got stuff for Connor’s road bags and some general purpose house stuff. Looked at Crocs - I can get two pair for $45, but I just don’t know about the colors. I wanted a black pair and a purple pair, but they didn’t have any purple ones. I may go with black and blue.
I was told that the “PM” ingredient in Tylenol PM is the same stuff that’s in Benedryl, so I didn’t buy any. Benedryl really doesn’t make me sleepy - just groggy the next day.
I guess I ought to start doing laundry but I have a feeling it will hold off until tomorrow.
I tried to sleep in this morning, but neighbor decided it was a good day to start on a home improvement project - at 8:15 am - I don’t know which was worse the banging of the hammer or the buzzing of the table saw - outside in his back yard, in direct line with my bedroom window - the closing of which did little to muffle the sound. even the ear plugs didn’t really help. Who does home improvement Thanksgiving weekend? He finally stopped around 11 - I think he went to church, so I was able to sleep til he got home at 12:30pm - I’ve been watching a Monk marathon since. The last of the turkey and fixin’s have been gobbled up - now I want a sugar cookie.
Hey all. Just a quick hi there. It’s been a long difficult week. I don’t want to be a thread killer so I’ll just say that my mother makes Sampiro’s mom at her worst look like Mother Fricken Theresa.
Was it mama kitty who mentioned Tylenol PM? Can’t find the post. Anyhoo, I’ve used it recently and found it works relatively well.
bobbio, I hope you had a net when you were up there on that roof.
I put up my little “old fogey” tree today. Put around a few other Christmas decorations as well but my heart just isn’t in it this year. Good thing Mr. Anachi was all industrious like and had the outside lights up on Friday. They look so pretty.
See ya all tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to post too.
Oh, it was scl about the Tylenol PM. Sorry it didn’t work out for you.
