Puggy sounds like prayers and good thoughts are needed for both the Grampuses, so off they go.
I have spent two hours looking at resumes this morning. They’re narrowed down to three. Now comes the setting up of interviews. Woohoo. Various dates for possible interview days have been given with the goal being it gets narrowed down to one day to do all three interviews. Wanna bet?
Oh and betwixt and between resume lookings, I’ve had conversations about mopheads and wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire haaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnggggggeeeeeerrrrrrrrsssss. All in all it’s been a very strange morning so far.
There’s a fifteen pound turkey sitting in my beerator along with two pans of dressing and two bunches of collards. The poor cans of sodas and bottles of waters have been dispossessed of their home and put into a big cooler filled with ice on my back porch. The beer, of course, still resides in the beerator. Gotta have priorities after all.
A pan of the dressing gets cooked tonight for tomorrow’s festivities here at work. It can get reheated at work tomorrow morning. Giblet gravy for tomorrow will also get made tonight and reheated on the morrow. Then tomorrow night, all sorts of preparations begin for Turkey Day. Actually all I’ll do tomorrow night is bake the sweet N.O.T. pies and cook the collards. Collards are one of those things that are better cooked the night before and reheated before serving. I may go ahead and cook the dressing too. Why not, since I have two ovens in which to cook. Mr. Turkey will go into the roaster oven early Thursday morning. With not tons of stuff to be done on Thursday, I can be the perfect, gracious host with the most.
Last night I had a dream that I was getting ready for our New Years’ Prom, and swampy kept fussing with my hair. I wanted to wear it down, but His Bearness was insisting that I just must have a faaaaaabulous updo with a strapless dress. I woke up confused. And not a little pissed, because I really do plan to wear my hair down.
And then I got yelled at this morning because a customer lied and told a supervisor I said something I never would have said. It’s all worked out now, but I was powerful annoyed for a little bit this morning.
I had a dream last night and several of you were in it. Which is strange, because except for Bumba, Swampy, FCM, picunurse, and welby, I’ve never met any of you in person. I’ve seen some pictures, but truly, I don’t know what most of you look like. **gt, ** was fussing about some bush at a park, and swampy kept telling her to rip it out. There was other stuff, but that’s all I remember. I know several of you were present. It was weird, I even remember thinking things were weird in the dream.
Rainy and windy here again.
**Puggy, ** I’m sending good thoughts and well wishes to the Grampuses. I really hope things improve soon.
Well, I should work now. But first, I need to get some coffee. I didn’t stop this morning because traffic was horrendous.
See? I never get into people’s dreams, just their nightmares!
puggy, Ophelia thought she was getting away very lightly with the pedalling this week. She’ll be coming to the gym with me tonight so I can make sure she sends enough vibes to the Grampuses.
And the argument resumes. I’m telling you, down and curly will look so much better with my ultra-pale skin and lack of shoulders (I have them, they’re just naturally slopy–I can’t wear shawls because they continuously fall off–the shawls, not my shoulders). And besides–no way I could get that updo to say updone for the whole night.
But with your red hair, it would look stunning…
odd dreams indeed - I dreamed I was in the “Heroes” world, talking to Mohinder, he was going to travel somewhere in a blinding blizzard and I begged him not to go. Then I was travelling to Buffalo to visit my sister who lived in a cabin on a mountain that was very difficult to drive up. But I got there, dropped off my bags, and said “I have to go see my friend, he just opened a restaurant here” But it was like I was a sitcom character introducing a spinoff - because the friend had been a character on my show who had a lunch counter at a train station (think Darryl Mitchell on the John Larroquette Show) but now he had his own place (and a whole cast of supporting characters) Then the cat jumped on me and woke me up
So apparently I am now invading people’s dreams to give advice about hair and landscaping. I like it!
Drae don’t be silly. Some well placed duct tape will keep that updo up all night. Trust me. I mean look at all the f-aaaaaa-bu-lous uses out there for duct tape. Just think of the fashion trend you could start with duct tape hair! You’ll be a trendsetter. A star. The toast of [del]really strange people[/del] the fashion world!
[Bragging Mom Mode] Older BiblioKid got all A’s and B’s on her first quarter freshman year college midterms. This is great news, after some trouble in high school with depression and other bad stuff I don’t need to go into here. She’s really come into her own and loves life right now. I’m very proud of her. Younger BiblioKid got all A’s and B’s on his first report card for 5th grade. He’s in a couple of GT classes and reads on a 7th grade level. He’s also doing 6th grade Math work.
[/BMM off]
In other news I am sore and tired today. I dragged a charged hoseline up and down smokey stairways (technically called ‘humping hose’), hauled big-ass fans up to the second floor, climbed a couple of ladders with heavy tools, and chopped a hole in a roof last night (which was actually pretty cool). My legs hurt, my arms hurt, my shoulders hurt, and my back hurts. We had our air bottles on the whole time - with all the gear on, we’re carrying an extra 50 or so pounds. I’m sore all over.
I’m going to go lie on the sofa, watch Heros and eat my weight in chocolate-covered pretzels. Send beer.
I was reading it in a Scots accent before I saw your next post. It’s the only way it worked for me.
I just got a call from the roofing company. It seems that they decided that they could rip off my old roof and put a brand new one on it before the Thanksgiving storm shows up. I guess I know what I’m doing for lunch now - running home to check on the crew on my roof. I wonder if I can talk them into cleaning the gutters while they are up there.
I also justt got off the phone with one of the customer service reps at a company back home in the 'burgh. Seems her husband and I wnet to high school together (I asked her what the weather was like since my mom is driving down here today, and we just started BSing about stuff.) Her husband and my sister were good friends in high school. Very small world, it is. But I still wouldn’t want to paint it.
Okay, breaks over - time for me to get back to work. I hope I have time to read more of this week’s MMP.
The critters have awakened me. Everyone is walked and watered, and I am having coffee. It’s cool and breezy here, with a chance of rain later, perfect fall weather.
Puggy, I’ll keep the Grampuses in my prayers, and Maggie will give a wag or two for them.
Taters, if the dream was weird, I was there. Sorry about the insanity.
LiLI, MBG, are you sure you guys posted to the right board? There might be some gamer board somewhere with tales of buses and bread stuck in the middle of the l33tsp3ak.
Rigs how’s that paper comin’ along? You workin’ on it? It won’t write itself you know! Ok fine… you can watch tv for thirty minutes but then it’s back to that paper and no arguements young lady!
So it sounds like the DH and QD drama is about to come to a head. I am on pins and needles. LiLi do they know that there are strangers all over the world following their courtship? She just has to say yes just so we can get all the details of wedding planning and all the angsts and trauma that goes along with it. It’s our very own MMP soap opera!
My thoughts exactly. You’ll have to show them how we all congratulate them (if it happens, of course).
I am already soooooooo bored. I know Monday is going to begin the Holiday Hellishness, and I’ll be as busy as a one-legged woman in an ass-kicking contest until January, but right now … zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Tomorrow’s going to be a long, boring, neverending nightmare.
Lissla - about that teapot… If you want to keep using it, you could try epoxy. It’ll probably look a bit nasty though. Otherwise, there are “Crazy” glues designed for ceramics, but they’ll not last long in use on a teapot that gets hot and wet. In that case, glue the handle back on and display it.
Anyone else have network problems last night? My DSL line was fine at 7:00, but soon went south. It’s like all my network equipment decided to play hooky. First I lost connectivity to the router, so I tried rebooting it. It came back to life asking “Are you my mommy” and had lost all of its settings. The DSL modem wasn’t talking either. I should have been able to plug a computer directly into it and seen the world, but it was giving me a bogus IP address.
By 11:30, I’d unplugged and replugged everything, turned everything off and back on multiple times and even talked to my ISP’s tech support who saw nothing wrong from their end. We’d worked it down to the DSL modem had probably failed and they were going to ship me a replacement, when the thing must have heard that and magically came back to life. A fine way to waste two hours…
