How I became a sorta Buckeye: a scarlet and gray MMP

$325!!!

I just spent that at the grocery store loading up for Thanksgiving, and the weekend.

Three of us, and assorted friends of the Kid in the evenings.

$325

rigs, you get back to work. Never mind about my grocery bill young lady!

I’m going to feel bad about dragging the Wife out for wings and beer tonight what with all this food in the house.

But not really really bad, so we’ll go.

Pshaw! That’s minor league grocery buying.

Obviously, you’ve never been to Costco with me.

Or, shopping with me when I buy the eats for Christmas Day dinner.

Still makes you wince when you see the total tally, though doesn’t it. I physically cringe for about a split second.

We got our have a wonderful Thanksgiving voice mail. We have to work 'til 5 tomorrow. Slave drivers! :stuck_out_tongue:

More workplace drama: During my absence yesterday, AC announced that she could do her job and my job. Well, yes, both jobs could be quite easily done by one person.

MBG, that’s a lot of money for a 4 day weekend. Hope it’s yummerific!

I went Turkey Day shopping yesterday and only spent $71.00 and change.

What did I forget? Oh yeah, we already had celery.

I just have to make pies, and I had most of the ingredients. I don’t think I spent $30, and that included non-pie stuff. Of course with gas and tolls, it’ll probably cost another $30 to drive to Mom’s… Plus she got me some groceries so I’ll owe her some money for that.

On the other hand, I may come home with leftovers. So it works.

I’m just bringing rolls and an appetizer. Guess I should decide what kind of appetizer. Suggestions? Won’t be a terribly expensive event, I can just about guarantee. Other big decision is whether to buy rolls or bake them myself.

Oh the stress.

Did I mention I’m actually taking tomorrow off? Yay!!!

MBG, I now feel better about the nearly $200 I spent on groceries on Monday. Thank you.

I’ve got Peace Flags ads.
Fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies.

Rhinoceros. It’s not irrelevant, it’s a hippopotamus! Gingersnaps. Being pushed off a ladder by a duck- what a terrible way to die. Medicated turpetine.

Dark chocolate.

Now I have Criminal Records Cleared! I don’t have a criminal record- they never caught me.

It’s probably because they caught my recent illegal parking incident on tape.

GT

I have Morgan Spurlock ads. Chocolate. Fluffy bunnies. Fluffy chocolate bunnies! Oops, wrong time of year. Chocolate turkeys?

I only spent $17.19 at Safeway tonight. I got there just in time, too; there were still a few parking spots left in the boonies, but when I left, the sharks were circling the lot. They even had all the checkstands open! I’ve never seen more than 2 or 3 open at a time at that store before.

<sticks tongue out at swampus > You’re not the boss of me! So there, nyah!
I am off to soak in a hot tub (but not, sadly, a hot-tub). I am on the second paragraph of page 5. I am not interested in this paper, and indeed, have lost the point of it early on. I have no concrete, narrow question or issue to discuss. In short, my paper sucks.

I know I write better than I am (for this paper), but the topic is just leaden to me. I can’t make it breathe, if that makes any sense…

It will be slog all the way through, but I am done for tonight (I also found out that it is NOT DUE UNTIL DEC 10), which gives me some time to tweak it a bit. Thank god.

Off to read Redwall to #2 son. yay! Go Matthias, find that sword!

thanks for all your, erm, support here. Keep it up, I’m gonna need it!

Since I am working Turkey Day, my grocery bill is about $150, which is what I spend on groceries every week anways…what did you buy, MBG -a gold plated turkey? (I bet it’s ALL liquor)…

I just sat thru all 146 minutes of “HP & the G of F” - awfully long for a movie aimed at teens, but I suppose they had to include all the elements of the book - Cousin is still reading that one - she has a lot of catching up to do. I was only going to watch until VM, but I got caught up in it. I was recording VM (and SVU) on my new DVR cable box

(quick, someone stop me before I start singing that song from Hair - too late
LBJ took the IRT down tp 4th Street USA, when he got there what did he see? the youth of America on LSD)

anyway - now I can VM Thursday morning instead of the parade - btw - who are this year’s celebrity-du-jour commentators?

My, my, I leave you alone for two days and you’re already on page 4!

Just a (literal!) drive-by post; I’m leaving for Switzerland today so this is likely to be all my posting for one or two weeks. Hope everybody’s diverse booboos, missing nails, hurt fingers, bad backs etc treat you guys well.

When I next write, it will be from the land of chocolatey goodness!

Happy travels, Nava - hope to be hearing from you soon when you’re settled in the land of white chocolate cuckoo clocks!

rosie, you watched all of HP? You’re a martyr! I couldn’t last more than about ten minutes before I started losing the will to live.

So…what’s new in Faeland…not a lot! 'im indoors made bortsch yesterday, he’s been planning to do it ever since we came back from Russia but never got the recipe and ingredients together at the same time. Anyway, I went and got most of the stuff he needed last weekend while I was out with the doting parent, so he had no excuse.

I was quite worried about him dealing with all that beetroot, he’s not the tidiest of people at the best of times (LiLi, QD wouldn’t last five minutes with him!) and adding messy vegetables to the mix is just asking for trouble. Guess who ended up doing the cleaning last night? Oh, he said the kitchen was clean, but it was manclean…need I say more?

Today I’m about to tackle a large committee meeting for the fourth time. I’m getting fed up arranging the meeting, booking the rooms and then confirming it to all the people who said they were available, just to have them tell me something else has come up and they’re suddenly not free that day. Bah!

So, how was the borscht, Boo? I used to think that I couldn’t possibly like it; then I actually tried it and it was yummy. Haven’t made it in a while, though. I have a very good vegetarian recipe for it.

Have a good trip, Nava. You’ve remembered the car, right? Post with lots of chocolate as soon as you can!!!

Hey…I like HP! (Although I liked the 3rd movie better than the fourth…)

I started reading Gilead last night, LiLi. I wanted to make sure I could read it slowly (usually I’m cramming the book-club book in at the last second). I like it a lot so far…

I’m up at an unnatural hour even though I don’t have to be. I’m hoping to get sleepy again soon.

GT

gt, it was very good - he bought some recipe books last time he was up in Scotland. I’m sure there’s a real 'im indoors and an alien version because cookbooks aren’t the kind of thing the real one would buy. There are a bunch of other things the real one wouldn’t entertain either so I have to be suspicious when he starts talking about cooking!

The book was Russian and East European recipe, plenty of nice stuff in there but there’s an awful lot of recipes for fish. I’m a vegetarian and he doesn’t do seafood so that section’s completely wasted on us, and I’m not sure he’d be patient enough to try some of the meat-based recipes either.

Never mind, the soup was good and it was better than having to do the cooking myself. Having said that, I have an embarrassment of vegetables in the house, and I still have made that sweater pie yet. Thursday. That’s pie-making night.

Thus the four day pigout beginneth. Well, it beginneth at nooneth today. I just put the dressing, gravy and two gallons of sweet tea in the kitchen. Did I ever mention that I am somewhat of a southern heretic? See, I don’t like sweet tea. I can make good sweet tea but I prefer unsweet tea. With lemon. For LiLi and others just so they’ll know, down here in the southern part of Amurrka, tea means iced. There are people who drink hot tea but that’s cause they don’t know any better, bless their hearts.

Oi! I resemble that remark!

Oh, Rigs, how’s that paper coming. Don’t you give me that look! Don’t you come out of that room until you have at least six pages written. I don’t care who you’re supposed to meet at the mall young lady, school work comes first! Now, get back to work on that paper. Kids these days, all they got on their minds is that MTV and the mall. SIGH

Drae I’ve just had a flash of brilliance! You simply must wear the greatest of all times updo!

Hiya all. I don’t know how it is in your necks of the woods, but in mine it’s windy. And rainy. Did I mention it’s windy?

At 6:30 this morning I was outside, in the windy rain, collecting the pieces of our gazebo thing that we put up on the deck this summer. Ripped the supports right out of the wood that I bolted them onto. I took it apart as much as I could just to make sure it wouldn’t blow around the neighborhood.

And when I got home from work yesterday, I found all the supplies for a new roof in my driveway, but no roofers. Boxes of nails, rolls of felt, caulking, vents, etc all just sitting in the rain. So I called the foreman of the crew, told him what his trained experts had done, and moved everything but the shingles into the garage.

I’ve been out in the rain far too much these past too days.
