Gallente are good for drones, and if you want a pure drone boat it’s pretty much the Ishtar or the Domi, but the Amarr recons are also pretty good for drones, albeit for PvP and not PvE.
I play Amarr, and I have no problem booting drones out of the back of my ship and making them earn their fuel … you do not have to stick with your racial ships, though I primarily fly ORE and Amarr ships. I think I can fly every racial t1 frigate in the game, and pretty much all the industrials. Im eventually going to get all racial types eventually all the way up through t2 and t3 level ships, I can not see stopping skilling when I have all the science, industrial skills. I have been shuffling skillbooks for so long it would be strange to log in and not be skilling something.
I think one of the strengths in EVE is the fact that anybody can skill anything - you are not limited by race or alliance, or whatever else you skilled up in [unlike WoW where you can only get 2 major tradeskills] so an Amarr can go entirely Gallente ships if that is what they want to do. Heck, I used to fly different racial frigates so I could use projectiles, hybrids, lasers or launchers depending on the missions I was running [different weapons types each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The advantage to laser is you don’t run out of ammo and have to go buy more… you just need insane amounts of cap regeneration in combat or insane skill at making cap stable ships ]
I really like the skill system EVE has, and it is cool that anyone can do anything if they put the time in. I think they also did a great job of making sure that every skill does something useful. The different bonuses all factor in nicely when making your ship work.
Of course, the other place I’m going to have insane amounts of fun is in kitting out ships. I love the balancing act between adding a better piece to a fit and running out of resources.
I have a really nice and tanky hulk fit that I use since I mine in null space and the rats are nastier than in Empire. If you catch up with me in game I can link it to you. I would be really careful, they are running Hulkageddon 4 purportedly in Feb - this year they started almost a week early. I would start being careful starting last week of Jan.
We have specific alliance fits for ships, if we get killed in an alliance fleet, in a fleet fit we get the ship replaced. Chickengeddon is actually one of our standard fleet fits. Usually I don’t worry about fitting ships, I do indy-fu and fleet-fu. ![]()
You’ll want to check out these out-of-game fitting tools, if you haven’t already:

fubbleskag, thanks. I hadn’t seen the python-based one.
Do you guys have a particular chat channel you hang out on? I’m still a ways from real money-making potential, though I now have enough to comfortably afford that Arbitrator when I can fly it. The Sisters missions are pretty lucrative.
My corps public channel is [LEECH] and mine is Bam’s Spot, I can be found on both of them when I am in game. I can give out our teamspeak info occasionally if we do not have any specific operation on or chat on skype - sometimes training in something is easier when you can actually talk instead of typing. As I said before, the Doper based corp essentially folded last year after about a 9 month run. It lasted long enough for most of the original people to get their footing in what they liked to do, and go off and find their own corps at PVP, PVE or indy =)
Right, I’ll check them out when I get online later. Thanks. I’m mostly just looking for chat, as I haven’t really had any questions that couldn’t be answered by UniWiki or the Evelopedia.
I use Aruvqan, Aruvqan Falk, Charles Dealy or Selous Falk as my main indy pilots.
I probably wont be able to log in until tomorrow morning, still sort of doing the romantic hubby weekend thing this evening ![]()
My corp tends to the euro side of things … heavy participation time tends to run 8am to about 4pm east coast time right now.
My pilot is Arrastor, for anyone on here who wants to chat. I’m spending my time working on the Sisters arc while my skill train up, after which I’m going to try to get into exploring and complex running.
Eventually I want to get into research, but that I suspect is a long term goal.

I agree. I’m not a numbers guy, but it sounds like I’d love the ruthlessness of this game.
I’m not sure if I’m happy or sad I’ve been into Minecraft recently.
Those are pretty much the two kinds of people EVE attracts: People who find spreadsheets and running a business fun, and PVPers more ruthless and hardcore than you’d find in any FPS.
PvPers who like to think about killing you. Also, IME, the politest PvP crowd I’ve ever seen; I’ve learned more from talking to the people who’ve killed me than I have any other way.
I’ve never seen PvP like EVE, where strategy, tactics, and even logistics (not the ship type) all are important; no other game do you gather intel for weeks, plan for days, and sit in fleet for hours for a five to ten minute fight. No other game can a fleet of noobs make pirates dock up or flee, just by showing up. No other game can a player less than three months old lock down a player six years old. No other game has noobs getting tears from veterans.
Goddammit, you’re not exactly keeping me away from it, now. I can’t decide if I’d be a griefer or an anti-griefer.
so many carebears…
Been enjoying the game, running the sisters of eve missions. Think I’m focusing on pve for now. Want to get my gallente faction standings up, how do I find missions in other systems that are available to me? Also, are hybrid weapons as bad as people claim? They are kind of the worst of both worlds, using ammo and capacitor
Missions are easy to find. You can find agents at a bunch of the stations. Early on only lvl 1 agents will be available.
You can also look at eve-agents.com for an agent-focused search engine.
