How Is Lorenzo Doing These Days?

Lorenzo’s Oil is on Bravo right now and Mrs. Rastahomie keeps asking me a bunch of questions (as if I’m an expert because I saw it once nearly 10 years ago. :rolleyes:

Is Lorenzo still alive? I’m guessing he’d be pushing 21 right about now. Any progress on “curing” him?

Also, what is the outlook for boys diagnosed with ALD today? Do a couple of swigs of Lorenzo’s Oil cure you for good, or is the outlook still pretty bad?

How is Lorenzo doing? Is he still surviving?
Lorenzo Odone turned 22 years old in 2000. He is “holding his own,” said his father, Augusto Odone, in an interview with The Washington Post. “He looks healthy, but he hasn’t recovered any functions in a big way,” he added. Lorenzo can communicate somewhat with hand signals. Unfortunately his mother, Michaela (portrayed in the movie by Susan Sarandon), died June 10, 2000, of lung cancer. – “ALD and Lorenzo’s Oil”
