How is the US going to change when Trump is elected?

That’s simply wrong. He can do an awful lot including starting wars and collapse the international order and world economy.

Plus he’ll have a much more cooperate congress, and Supreme Court once he stuffs it with far right appointees.

As for what happens? America’s reputation is destroyed, it’s plunged into multiple wars, its economy collapses, ethnic cleansing sweeps the nation, lesbians and gays are rounded up for “conversion therapy” torture, civil rights in general are rolled back generations, and in general everything goes to hell.

It’s unlikely the nation ever really recovers. If it does it’ll take decades, at best.

Trump triumphant as Mexico completes the wall he ordered them to build; perplexed that Canada builds one unprompted.

Well that escalated quickly.

Terrorism will disappear as if it never existed, we’ll all be arguing about what to do with the national surplus, the domestic murder rate will drop to a negative number (yes, that’s right: some percentage of murdered people, especially in Chicago, will be spontaneously springing back to life), and everyone will have jobs, great jobs, the best jobs.

Not only that, but everyone will have an above-average income!

Trump will copy Gaddafi’s so called Amazonian guard, except they’ll wear American flag bikinis and aviator sunglasses.

A dunk tank will be installed over the reflecting pool so visitors can dunk Jeb Bush all day.

Abortions For Some,
Miniature American Flags For Others!

Optimist.

You thought Killer Clowns were bad…

And this is bad … why? :stuck_out_tongue:

Cable reception goes to hell at times like that.

Not singling you out only. This post and others belong in one of the dozens of Trump threads in Elections.

Agreed. I see no reason why we can’t have a thread for looking at humorous possibilities for the United States of Trump. And I see no reason why it can’t be in MPSIMS. Anyone who wants a serious political discussion should go to Elections.

Then you don’t belong in this thread. There is an entire forum for you.

I thought more realistic but only to jump on the wagon of negativism! :smack:

I can see His Orangeness now, coming to deliver the memorial salad wreath to the newly rebuilt Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The color guard in their new sequined and revealing uniforms prance to a solemn halt. The eternal disco ball’s light sparkles across the pink marble, as the chorus line performs the changing of the guard. As he places the wreath, the silent air is filled with golden glitter.

From what I have read of the tomb of the unknown, I believe that the guards would shoot him, or if they have unloaded weapons, beat him to death.

It’s the SCOTUS, which is now at a tipping point. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who has made her contributions and should be entitled to step down and take a rest, refused to do so over concerns that it would ultimately tip the court rightward. And this was before Obama nominated the quite moderate and centrist Merrick Garland, only to have the Republican controlled Senate ignore him completely.

There are several retirements expected during the next presidential term, and Trump is on record as favoring justices most of whom are darlings of the far right. With a 7-2 conservative court of last resort, I see no reason why the state of social welfare, health care, voting rights/access to the polls, immigrant rights, and worker rights wouldn’t be rolled back to conditions of the Hoover administration through Republican legislation and Republican-sponsored litigation. The high profile SCOTUS cases we’ve seen in recent years, would be replayed but with the conservatives winning.

Say what you will of HRC, if elected she will not nominate the same kind of justices that Trump proposes to do if he’s elected.

Wow, Trump sounds like a HORRIBLE person.

Not horrible enough for Bill Clinton to resign from his country club, though. Or for the Clintons to refuse all the money he gave them.

Sadly, I predict that the Straight Dope will no longer exist. All of its members will have hyperventilated to death, or perished from galloping apoplexy. There may be two or three (the sum total of the present conservative membership) remaining members, but they will probably quit because of boredom.
