Speaking of gay people and people from Chicago, who happen to be black, I heard just a few days ago that the Obergefell decision was approved mainly because Obama’s a secret Muslim, and would use this to identify gay people.

Trump is still a viable candidate because of people like her, who are completely brainwashed by their Messiah. No amount of reality will get through to them. Anything that contradicts their beliefs only proves they are right! If 30% of America voters are part of the cult, then the cult is self-sustaining and Trump will remain viable.

That’s actually a fascinating and depressing example of MAGAworld taking a fact – the special counsel’s report about Biden’s return of classified documents – and morphing it into the derogatory false framing of the Trumpista being quoted.

See, that’s the thing: a significant part of the population has always been stupid. Once they were represented by Archie Bunker, but most people knew that that was satire. Today the problem is the people like MTG are given the microphone, when they should never be allowed to speak publicly. The views of idiots are given equal weighting to the views of intelligent people. Hence your Fox News, your One America and the like. 30% is still a minority, but it’s an alarmingly large one.
Truly, I get the reasons you say that, but looking at it objectively this is a terrifying thought. I think a more nuanced version is that while such individuals, far divorced from truth and reality should be laughed at and dismissed for their innumerable errors, but are instead raised up by Fox and OANN as if their misinformation and “opinions” were equally valid to observable reality. This is admittedly a part of the problem, but what makes it terrifying is that the 30% or so are unshakeable in their loyalty, unable to be reached by reality, and motivated to a degree of taking not only united political action, but verifiably violent and direct action (thankfully not the fully 30% for the latter).
And that the 30% wield the authority of the remaining 20ish percent of the American Public who support Republicans because of non-Trump specific issues, for fear of losing to “the enemy” while due to depending on the same flawed sources of information, grow ever closer in a manner similar to the zombie invasion meme. Because I’ve seen it - the “moderate” Republican who supported Trump because anything was better than a Democrat who had two choices after 1/6 - leave the party (one friend), or under a non-stop barrage of misinformation, join the rest of their “tribe” or be outcast as a RINO, and eventually becoming a true believer because there was no other way to belong, and nothing to contradict an endless stream of propaganda.
Anyone should be allowed to speak publicly. Free speech is still with us.
