I’m now imagining Barr giving Trump a horsey ride, and it’s both hilarious and appalling.
All right, you’re responsible for buying Brain Bleach for the entire board now!
Press on.
Or a Bill Burr, if trump manages to win again, God forbid, in a new staff position: Chief of Insults. trump is surrounded by too many ‘yes men’; he needs someone to shock him into reality.
“What the g0dd4m h3!! are you thinking? That’s the worst f%#$ing idea I ever heard! Are those chemicals you bleach your hair with soaking into your brain?!? I’d tell you to get your head out of your ass, but it’s the only thing keeping those godawful farts in!”
That would set a new standard for short employment periods below even the Scaramucci.
I’m imagining it as some sort of court-mandated thing-- the only way trump is allowed to hold the office again is if he’s required to have Burr as a non-fireable staff position in which he is present at all times of the day. Yeah, there’re still details to work out…
I’m picturing massive improvements in cloning technology, as President For Life With Full Immunity Trump simply kills every Burr as soon as he opens his mouth. In the basement of the White House, there are endless rows of Burr Clones waiting to be decanted. The US economy flourishes based on the highly popular betting surrounding how long each Burr will last.
Eventually, on his death bed, PFLWFI Trump confesses that he’s been gaming the gambling this whole time, and he now personally owns 90% of the US economy. His only regret is that he never got to 100%. Millions of MAGAts flood the streets, demanding that the nation just give PFLWFI Trump that last 10% just to prove we’re more MAGAt that thou art.
trump, a guy who famously went bankrupt running casinos, eventually owns 90% of the US economy through gambling? I thought my scenario was far-fetched
But that’s the point, it’s not “gambling”, it’s cheating, and we’ve seen he’s apparently quite good at that.
ETA: a better rebuttal would be, “If Trump did own 90% of everything, it would be worth 1/10th as much!”
This is a remarkable Twitter thread by NYT journalist Seth Abrams about Trump.
I have posted a link to a site that has collated it all on one page:
There’s a lot to unpack here and I wonder what the dope makes of it all.
It says Trump never expected to win and as a result his foreign policy was purely based on what would help his business, hence relationships with the Saudi’s, the Russians and others.
The Republican Party tried to get Trump to drop out the race after the Access Hollywood leak but Trump knew that would also ruin his brand so refused to go. The Stormy Daniels story might have pushed him over the edge.
Guiliani started spreading false rumours about more evidence against Clinton and when Comey realised a computer in the case hadn’t been examined by an agent who was a convicted Russian asset, he ordered the case to be reopened - as the foreign agents threatened to undermine the FBI plus the FBI seem to be running scared of what Trump would do should he gain power.
There’s a suggestion that maybe Russian banks payed for the payoff to Stormy Daniels.
Cohen and Mannafort have been the ones doing all the dealings with the Kremlin so Trump wants to bury them both.
…once Cohen had saved the campaign, a combination of past foreign collusion efforts and the time and space afforded him by mass payoffs of women put him in a position to use the very same small cadre of vile men to blackmail the FBI into reopening the closed Clinton case.
I could go on. The whole thing is a story of a criminal underworld boss.
Worth a read, I just don’t know how much of the claims here are reputable ones.
I just got this image of Trump sitting on a horse, in the pose he used when he was pretending to drive a semi.
I thought that was where he was?
I’ll bet Trump goes piggyback around Mar-A-Lago.
Extra points for subtlety. (Limited gift link.)
You left off part of his name and he doesn’t work for the New York Times.
trump may be even more broke soon-
https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/11/politics/donald-trump-taxes-irs-report/index.html
Former President Donald Trump could owe more than $100 million in taxes as a result of a yearslong Internal Revenue Service inquiry into claims of huge losses on his Chicago skyscraper, The New York Times and ProPublica reported Saturday.
The news organizations reported Trump claimed massive financial losses twice — first on his 2008 tax return, when he said the building, then mired in debt, was “worthless,” and again after 2010, when he had shifted its ownership into a new partnership also controlled by Trump.
The 2008 claim resulted in Trump reporting losses as high as $651 million for the year, and there is no indication it drew an IRS challenge, the outlets reported. Then, Trump’s lawyers enabled further claims of losses in 2010 by shifting the Chicago tower into another partnership, “DJT Holdings LLC,” The Times and ProPublica reported.…The outlets calculated the revision sought by the IRS could result in a tax bill of more than $100 million.
None of trumps tricks will work with the IRS.
It only took a minute for me to find a relevant criminal law here.
Am I missing something, or did Mr. Trump, assuming Washington Post reporting is correct, violate this:
What I still do not understand about this stuff is why it would take months (or, really, years) for police to see if the news story checks out and arrest Trump if it does. Sure, they have to interview the people who are mentioned in the news story, but how long should that take? If someone won’t answer questions, shouldn’t there be an already empaneled grand jury you could subpoena them to attend in the next day or two? If they say the WaPo got it all wrong, of course, then, you don’t charge Trump.
I suppose that if the WaPo story is substantially correct, there is more than one crime Trump could be accused of. But in my opinion, the prosecutors should prioritize prompt justice over charging everything possible.
P.S. Bringing it back to the thread, Trump is viable because he’s not going to be promptly arrested and tried for the new alleged crimes he is liable to commit this year.
The secret service agents for Trump are doing rock paper and scissors this morning. One has to spend the night in jail with Trump. He can’t possibly shut up about Cohen.
You don’t believe Trump is going to jail if he continues to yap? At most they’ll confine him to Trump Tower. If I am proven wrong, I’ll get over it someday.
All one has to do is to look at the current shitshow in the White House. Then compare it with this:
Sure, all you have to do is swallow right wing propaganda.
I’m impressed that it only took 9 days to google a right wing glurge site with “accomplishments” that are compared to “look at this unnamed bad stuff about Biden”
