How local is this product?

In a thread about foods with weird names, I was going to post that I have a hard time putting Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in my mouth. Before I did I looked them up to make sure I spelled it right and found out that these cookies are made next door to me in West Babylon, Long Island and I wondered if anybody would know what I was talking about.

Snapple also started out very locally. In the beginning you could only find them in Brooklyn. Then one day, out of nowhere, their short, round receptionist started doing their commercials and they were ALL OVER THE PLACE.

So my questions: Have you heard of, or eaten, Otis Spunkmeyer Cookies and how far away from you are you from Long Island, NY?

Is there a local brand that everyone where you are at knows of but is relatively unknown to the world at large?

I’m sure I’ve encountered them, but I don’t know off the top of my head if it was in Philadelphia, Cleveland, or Montana, or possibly all three.

There might be an Otis Spunkmeyer bakery on Long Island, but they’re actually a California-based company and their products are available nationwide.

Yeah, I ate them in Texas in the 70’s. At least a nationwide level of local.

When I worked for a school district in the Los Angeles area we used Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. They sell dough already formed into cookies and ready to bake to lots of schools and restaurants. As far as I know, Subway uses Otis dough for their cookies nationwide; I know they do in California and Texas anyhow. And the cookies are the next best thing to (my) homemade.

So the answer is: not local at all. Thanks.

I have heard of them, eaten them, known about them as long as I can remember. I have flown in their DC-3 over the San Francisco Bay.

I’m sure I’ve seen products of that brand here in England.

I’ve seen those cookies worldwide, so they get more than nationwide distribution.

I’ve just been informed that Spirit has found a Spunkmeyer cookie wrapper 2 millimeters below the surface of Mars.
