How long does it take the average idiot like me to figure out where to post threads?

Half-joking, of course, and I know having a thread moved isn’t in and of itself a bad thing, I Just hating feeling like the ‘new guy who can’t find his ass from a hole in the wall’ :stuck_out_tongue:

And, I don’t like making extra work for the moderators, either…

You’ve been here 7 years and haven’t figured it out by now?

Hah! I ‘joined’ seven years ago, posted maybe once (or not at all)? I was actually amazed when I returned a few days ago to find my login still worked, or that I even remembered my login.

There’s a Sticky in the ATMB Forum that links to this:

Moving the OP from MPSIMS to About This Message Board.

BTW, you’ve posted 78 times since coming back

You posted 81 times in 2004.

lol

sigh

Thanks for the info though

Hilarious… And how many were actually moved?

Obviously longer than 8 years.
This thread was moved.

I believe that ‘can’t find his ass from a hole in the wall’ is a forum specifically for moderators to talk about the rest of us.

We mostly do that in the email loop.

“Average” idiots never learn. If you do eventually learn, you can rest assured that you are an above average idiot.

I can think of at least two active posters who’ve been here longer than your sign-up date that STILL have no idea where their threads belong.

Word.

I’m such an idiot that I’m still trying to figure out how to thread posts.

**How long does it take the average idiot like me to figure out where to post threads? **

There are no average idiots on this message board!

We are all quite a bit above average, thank you.

Can I ask a procedural question? Why not do something more severe with such posters? The two I’m thinking of are chronic “I cannot google or properly categorize my constant inquiries” type posters - they have to be consistent thorns in the sides of moderators. So if there were a generic poster named, say… Hex or Curse or randolph248 or something that posted several threads a week that needed constant moving or displayed a large amount of ignorance (like being Thread #12 on a subject that’s been constantly brought up on the board), why not issue increasingly severe warnings to either get them to change or get them off the board?

Posting in the wrong forum is a pretty low-grade offense, and we normally don’t issue warnings or even notes for it. However, if particular posters persistently post in the wrong forums we do eventually take action, ranging from closing their threads (instead of moving them) to warning them. In severe cases it could potentially result in a banning; although the only instance I can recall was a very long time ago, of a poster who continually posted rants in GQ.

Yeah, that’s the rub isn’t it? No one wants to be the bad guy slapping a poster for a mistake people make all the time. It’s not like it really does affect me, but it still gives me the feeling of being in a classroom where the discussion is being held back by the idiot in the back of the room who didn’t read the assignment, forgot his book, and yet keeps asking meaningless questions and wasting our time.
