Just for the record, neither the Stones nor the Beatles even made it out of the sixties without a dead original member.

I can attest that Rush is indeed still around. I just saw them do two shows this weekend.

Last I heard, their original drummer, John Rutsey, is still alive and doing well in Toronto.
