How many active email accounts do you have?

[ul]
[li]Personal (the one I’ve had for 13 years that is now mostly dedicated to receiving emails offering pharmaceuticals [/li][li]Work[/li][li]Yahoo email (though I don’t use that for anything)[/li][li]Cable ISP primary (never used, just gets spam)[/li][li]Cable ISP that I actually use, a little[/li][li]Gmail[/li]li@vtext dot com (Verizon text message), also one I don’t use.[/li][/ul]
Boy, compared with some of you that’s a pretty pathetic list!

In order of how often I use them:

  1. Primary Gmail address
  2. Work
  3. Alternate Gmail address (used primarily when registering for anything that might land me with regular “newsletters” and “offers I might like”… aka Spam)
  4. Hotmail address (used for Messenger, and otherwise neglected)
  5. @rogers.blackberry.net address (soon to be decommisoned and replaced with POP3 access to #1 on this list - it already forwards there anyway)
  1. work
  2. sbcglobal
  3. yahoo
  4. gmail (2)
  5. hotmail
  6. alumni (2)
  7. university individually funded (2)
  8. personal domain
  9. .mac

Adds up to twelve ways to email me. The alumni, IF, and personal domain addresses are fowarded to my work account. Response times vary from immediate (work) to within a week or so (hotmail).

Just two. The first is a hotmail account I’m keeping mostly for nostalgia- I’ve had it since the last year or so of high school (almost 6 years ago). I’ve also got a university email address, which I have to use for administration and serious things like that.

  1. Work
  2. Personal
  3. Web Form Sign up email
  4. Old Personal that some people just can’t let go of
  5. School email that I rarely use.

1 and 2 are the only two I use with any regularity, but I check 3, 4, and 5 once in a while to be sure I haven’t missed anything important.

  1. Work
  2. Hotmail. My primary email although I’m slowly moving everything over to #3
  3. Gmail. This one is becoming my primary email since the hotmail one is 10 years old and gets too much junk that I can’t stop or filter.
  4. Yahoo one for friends. Don’t use as much anymore
  5. Yahoo. A second one for resumes.
  6. AOL, almost dormant. I check it rarely. It is attached to my mom’s aol account

Four

  1. Gmail account for personal
  2. Work account
  3. Hotmail account for times I really don’t want to give my real e-mail address
  4. Yahoo account because one seems to automatically come with a Yahoo ID, I use Yahoo Messenger.

Let’s see…

  1. Main home email - for all friend, family, and personal stuff
  2. Shared home email - shared with my SO for administering our ISP account
  3. Gmail - backup for home email. I forward everything there
  4. Work email for full-time job
  5. Work email for part-time University faculty job
  6. Junk netscape account for website registrations and other things that are likely to bring in the spam

Wow. 6. Until this thread I hadn’t thought much about it…

Three. My work address, an address using my dopername/Goodreads name, and another using my real name.

The thing I hate is when someone gives you their e-mail address like: “You can e-mail me at billybob@net.com or billb@something.org” JUST PICK AN ADDRESS!

2, work and personal, although there might be two work ones that are valid(we merged) and the personal one is an alumni forwarding address to my earthlink email. There very likely is several old ones that may or may not still work but I don’t even remember what they are or would know how to go about checking if they’re active.

That made sense back when my e-mail address was 7413,16@compuserve.com or whatthehellever it was.
