Ick. You bought a 300. My girlfriend probably did the trunk sealer, so you can blame her when it leaks. I’ll give you fifty bucks for the CR-V though, as long as you drive it to Calgary for me.
I’ve only ever owned one car – a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. My friend, however, is the type to buy a car for $50-$500 and drive it into the ground. He’s owned:
Mid 80’s Mercury Topaz
'85 Thunderbird
'87 or '88 Bronco II
'86 Pontiac Fiero
Mid 80’s Pontiac Sunbird
Early 90’s Ford Tempo
'96 Plymouth Neon (for three whole weeks!)
'96 Pontiac Trans Sport
1979 Austin Maxi 1750 HLS. Horrid relic of the dark days of the 1970’s British car industry. Walnut dashboard. Used oil faster than gasoline.
1985 VW Polo mk II saloon. Spartan, but a decent car apart from the total lack of servo-assistance to the brakes, because VW were too cheap to make a proper right-hand drive verson.
1991 Rover Metro GTi. Nippy little hatchback, rock-hard ride.
1995 VW Polo Mk III. Just a great car. Why did I sell it?
1996 Ford Mondeo Mk I. Ugh. Ford can take expensive materials and make a crappy interior out of them. In this case, they started with cheap materials and made an even crappier interior. Sold it within weeks.
1995 Audi A4 Mk I Turbo Sport - refined and nicely finished, with an excellent stereo. But not as fast as the badge suggests, and nothing special handling-wise.
2005 Ford Focus Mk II - Liking it so far, but still has that air of Ford cheapness.
1960 Mercury Comet 4 door sedan 2-speed automatic. Bought this car before I had a driver’s license with youthfull dreams of “completely restoring” it. My parents were rather upset with my decision to put this thing in their yard. I only drove it a few times before the master brake cylinder gave up the fight. I was lucky I didn’t get killed. I had a good engine though. It was an inline 6, as I recall - you don’t see many these days. I learned auto mechanics working on this car.
1978 Renault R17 Gordini 5-speed 2-door targa-top coupe. Never legally drove this heap. The DMV wouldn’t even let me register it. By this time I was out of my parent’s house and they didn’t even have a chance to save me from myself . . . again. I also had dreams of restoring this “classic”. I didn’t consider how difficult it would be to get parts for a French made car that was never imported into this country (this one came by the way of Canada).
1981 Toyota Celica GT 2 Door Coupe 5-speed. Fun car.
1987 Ford Escort 2 Door Hatchback 4-speed. I drove this car until it died. Loved it.
1986 Honda CMX-250 “Rebel” Motorcycle. Killed this one too. I still own this one (come to think of it) but it needs a new engine.
2004 DJMotorbike “MigKiller” motorbike. Unique to the world. I built it myself. It’s currently inoperable, but under restoration.
1986 Chrysler LeBaron 2 Door Coupe 3-speed automatic. I got rid of it recently. Blah, automatic. Only got it because the guy who owned it was going to take it to the junkyard, he gave it to me for $50. I, in turn, gifted it to my brother. It still runs well.
27 and on my first and only car for a couple of months now. A 1997 1.4 Honda Civic, recognisable to the rest of the world as a Honda Domani. Much much better than the Rover spin off model, its cheap to run, reliable and not bad on the road for my purposes. The low price my father asked for also helped
A 1972 Gremlin, which I bought in 1980 when I was 16 for $200; it lasted for 3 years and died when I was 19.
A mid-80’s Buick Skylark, also bought used around 1990. I gave it to my sister in 1996 when I bought…
A 1996 Saturn SL2. My first new car! I was so fond of this car that when it was smashed up beyond recovery in an accident in 2002 (while I was only mildly bruised), I went right out and got-
