Two cities, one town, currently live in a village. At this rate, I’ll be in a tent in a field in five years time.
Hmm, I haven’t tried to work this out before.
All within the UK (actually all within about 200 miles):
Birmingham
Leicester
St Ives
Leamington Spa
Milton Keynes
London (Wandsworth, Golders Green)
Cheltenham
= 7
People listing Stanford, CA are being way too technical. I know it’s technically separate from Palo Alto, but yeesh, just say Palo Alto.
Sacramento, CA
Santa Cruz, CA
Oakland, CA
Mbalmayo, Cameroon
Guider, Cameroon
Chengdu, China
Yibin, China
Washington, DC
Manthe, South Africa
If you count my “permanent address”, I’ve spent my entire adult life in a house I lived in once for six months more than a decade ago. In this list, I am counting situations where I’ve lived in a home (not a hotel or other temporary situation) and had no other residence to “go back to.”
I loved that Farrell’s when I was a kid. Man, that place closed down a seriously long time ago - 25-30 years ago I think.
Eight. In order:
Baltimore, MD
Woodbridge, VA
Columbus, OH
Edison, NJ
Miami, FL
Columbia, MD
Towson, MD
Chillicothe, OH
Eleven cities (towns, maybe three actual cities) I think. Probably 14 addresses. Eight states.
Believe me, I know…I’ve got the years on me to prove it.
Shockingly though, I Googled Farrell’s just for the hell of it - and there are still a few of them in California! Road trip!
I have lived in the same house in the same city for the past 20 years. I have lived in 21 total municipalities and 36 houses over the course of my life. Like liana_f, my dad was a pastor.
Yeah, I went to grade and middle school there. Hit all the high points: broke my arm riding a dirt bike at Bassett Park, ran into Pat Lafontaine at Wegman’s AND bowled at Transit Lanes. Did I miss anything in the seminal Williamsville experience?
Lovely place to grow up, somewhat depressing place to revisit as an adult.
I meet a lot of people who have lived in Western New York or Northeast Ohio, and I have a sneaking suspicion that the weather on the eastern side of Lake Erie creates a lot more expatriates from an area than a more populous area like, say, San Diego.
I spent way too much time in Bassett park, lived next to a variety of Sabres and bowled and played Space Invaders at Transit Lanes. Putt Putt? Swimming and ice skating at Clearfield? That was another big one. I went to Maple (East) and Casey Middle.
I have some friends who stayed in the area and are happy, but most left after college.
Reno, Nevada
San Francisco, California
Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia
Freiburg, Germany
Prague, Czech Republic
Dubai, UAE
Wellington, New Zealand
3
York
Birmingham
Manchester
My current tally is 12 countries and 17 cities.
In chronological order they are:
Oberamagau, Germany
Fort Huachuca, Arizona (USA)
Bangkok, Thailand
Hong, Kong (UK possession at the time )
Bombay, India
San Antonio, TX (USA)
Hanau, Germany
Presque Isle, ME (USA)
Palo Alto, CA (USA)
Khartoum, Sudan
Brisbane Australia
London, England
Aberdeen, Scotland
Budapest, Hungary
Pleasant Hill, CA (USA)
Kuwait City, Kuwait
Luanda, Angola
Yeah, I got around as an Army brat and currently as O&G company employee.
2 cities in the UK, 1 in China, 1 in Spain, 2 in Saudi, 1 in Kuwait (heh*), 2 in Korea.
Manila are you still in Ulsan? Just interesting to know, I’m way north of Seoul.
*There is only one.
All in the US.
Buffalo (city, Amherst [sup]†[/sup]), NY
Chicago, IL
Las Cruces, NM
Fort Collins, CO
Denver, CO
Orlando (Ocoee), FL
Cleveland (Lyndhurst, South Euclid), OH
Austin (Round Rock), TX
Ithaca, NY [sup]‡[/sup]
† 14221, so it’s a Williamsville mailing address.
‡ Not a CU or IC student or faculty/staff member. A rare breed.
Seven:
Kearney, NE
Lincoln, NE
Overton, NE (not a city by any stretch of the imagination, but hey)
Omaha, NE
Decatur, IL
Urbana, IL
Erie, PA
I’m not counting North Platte, NE. I had an address there, but was staying with my parents over summer break. It doesn’t merit “living.”
Grew up in the Kensington neighborhood (14215) in Buffalo proper, at the time a lower-middle to middle class neighborhood. A couple of years after I left Buffalo for my first “real world” job, the 'rents moved to 14221, when Kensington was experiencing rapid socioeconomic change. I returned to WNY for grad school, so I have a couple of years with a Williamsville address under my belt.
Four cities - excluding the small town (~25,000) where I was born and raised.
London, England
Cardiff, Wales,
Luanda, Angola
Edinburgh, Scotland.
I only appear to do capital cities.
18 addresses in 5 states.
Wisconsin
Michigan
Indiana
Illinois
Maryland
The first house I lived in was also the 15th house I lived in, but the house was in a different location, having been picked up and moved a quarter of a mile.
The current house I live in is in the same geographic location as the first house I lived in but it’s a lot bigger. Different address too, since back in the day the roads and houses had no names, only fire numbers.
