Amazing how a campus of 30,000 students can be “small” … but that does seem to be one of the real charms of the place, it pulls it off.
Ah, yes! The water! And the smell of alfalfa in the spring!

Class of ‘97 grad myself. I remember the spot on one of those TV newsmags about Davis’ smoking laws. I used to get mail for DJ Shadow(IIRC) who lived in the townhouse I did the year prior. I need me some Woodstock’s pizza…
UCD undergrad, transfer student, second quarter in CS (trying to get into CSE). I’m supposed to be in class right now! :smack:
Not a bad place, but a little warmer in the winter and a little colder in the summer would be much appreciated. (Which is why I’m so happy the sun is out today…)
Agh… I’m always late…
Make me feel old … concerts I remember include Van Morrison, Arlo Guthrie, Phil Ochs, Vince Guaraldi, Doc Watson …
Davis dopefest, anyone?
I wish.
Whats the problem then?
Could be fun … I’ve never done anything like a dopefest before … a Davis one might well be a good intrduction to the concept.
My current location over 1000 miles away.
Actually, the water on campus comes from a deeper aquifer than the water in town. It therefore gets much less fertilizer draw-down. The time the water in town tastes worst is three months after fertilizing season.
I got this from a geology grad.
Thinking about Davis reminds me of the time I went for a chem-waste pickup at the MU and picked up something that was labeled “Excess Jubilation”. I had to make the guy who had called it in go get me an ingredients label. Seems Jubilation is a trademarked finish dressing for bowling alleys.
Then there was the electron microscopy lab tech who always labeled his stuff “Bad Juju”. Each bottle came with a long list of everything in it, though, so that was OK. I’ve always thought that you can have too much Bad Juju, but you really can’t have Excess Jubilation. (The MU had switched products and didn’t want to use up the superceded EJ.)
Haha when I saw this thread, I actually subscribed! After all the internal struggle since Nov, this thread turns the tide. I’m such a dork. How sad.
Anyway, I’m a fourth year at UCD. Majoring in psychology and Asian American Studies.
Hey if any current undergrad students are interested in health, I’m a member of Delta Epsilon Mu, a co-ed pre-health fraternity. We’re thinking about rushing in the fall, to give you a heads up =)
And it’s all about Tercero, D building. I was right next to the cows. It’s very soothing to hear them moo in the morning.
Anyone up for taking in a show at the spiffy somewhat-new Mondavi center?
(Just got back from class, so the whole writing transitions between sentences isn’t happening )
Welcome to the Dope, and the Davis thread!
I have tickets for Pat Metheny @ Mondavi next Tues…
Davis dope sounds good. But not at the mondavi center. Can’t exacttly socialize.
So…Who wants to plan D-day?
sounds like fun. Oh,a nd Number? Tercero has a brand new DC, no pool tables (that confused me for a sec), and in E building we still get to see and smell the cows , but usually not hear them. I dont mind the smell, my hometown was literally surrounded on all sides by dairies, get a good windy night and…
I’m a second year MBA student at UC Davis. I commute from Concord (~60 miles) so I’m actually not that familiar with most of Davis.
No more Trudy’s? Dag, yo.
Yea now it’s a computer lab I think o.O
They moved all the stuff that was in Trudy’s into the DC. Now it’s way more crammed in there! But hey, I’ll brave the stuffy DC and freshmen to get to those hot wings and fresh baked cookies on Monday nights. Mmm mmm.
UCD is flying me up next weekend for a grad school recruitment event. I’ve never been there before and have some time to kill on Friday. Anything I should see or do?
You sound like me, but I’m leaving this afternoon. What program? I’m chem.
So when did the Coffee House become a big glassed in mega-food-service place tacked onto the MU? It used to be a snack-bar sized place in South Hall …
At least I’m not old enough to remember when North & South Halls were dorms …
