I previous threads about communication with the dead, it has been expressed that those who “pass over” usually want to send messages to the living, only if they have some connections with those people while they 9the dead) were alive. This explains why it is difficult to contact the spirits of long-deceased historical figures (Like Julius Caesar or Abraham Lincoln)-their contempoaries have all passed on, and noone alive today has any connection with them. Fine…I’ll buy that line of reasoning. But nowmy question: those who have been popular screen stars have had more connection with more people than any of uswill ever have! So,it stands toreason that somebody like James Dean would have a ready groupof fans just waiting to hear from him!
So, how many dead celebrities have been successfully contacted by mediums? Anybody ever speak to recntly dead folks like Gene Kelly, Ginger Rodgers, ot Doanld O’Connor?
These deceased ought to be among the more easily contacted shades…
None. They’re, er, dead.
Yep. Zero.
The same number as regular dead people. The big, fat and aforementioned 0.
I was going to refer to this scripture Luke 16:26 (KJV) because I think it makes clear that mediums cannot contact the dead but then I thought I should include the full text.
(quote)
Luke 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luke 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luke 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Luke 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:
Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luke 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luke 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
I don’t think dead people can communicate to loved ones.
I’ve never heard of any.
I always took that story in Luke as a parable rather than an actual happening. Can’t imagine Hell and Heaven/Abraham’s Bosom just being separated by a canyon.
Ok, this is not meant to start a religious debate, so stop it now!
Why? Don’t you have any critical thinking abilities?
The simple answer to your OP has already been given, but I’ll repeat it here: Zero.
One of the segments on Showtime’s Penn & Teller’s Bullshit! involved using a ouija board to contact the ghost of a dead celebrity. Unfortunately, while the folks using the ouija were able to “make contact” initially, once they were blindfolded, their subsequent attempts to make contact merely resulted in them repeating their earlier questions and gestures exactly – rather telling, considering the ouija board was secretly turned upside-down, and the pointer wasn’t pointing to any of the letters or symbols they thought it was pointing to.
Gotta say, it’s none. And I’ve even tried some of their cell phone #'s. (You don’t think death would keep a celebrity from answering a call that might mean a possible job, do you?)
There’s a story that Harry Houdini once tested a medium by asking her to channel his dead mother. He called her out as a fake when she “channeled” his mother, and she spoke to him in English, pointing out that his mother only spoke Yiddish and Hungarian.
