How many different addresses have you had?

Not sure which forum I should post this in.

My Son just asked me how many different places I’ve lived at, I said at least 20, (I’m 37 years old), he was amazed that I’ve moved house so many times and so frequently. I know people my age who have never moved house.

I’m sure there are people out there who have moved around more than I have, so how many times have you changed address?

Since this is asking about personal experiences, this is better suited for IMHO than GQ.

  1. I’m 33 years old. I have this feeling like I have forgotten one or two from my early childhood, so let’s call it 17-19. We moved a lot when I was a kid, and then I had a different address every year in college, and then we’ve moved around a lot in my adult life as well. We’ve been in our current location for almost five years, though, and this one looks like a keeper.
  1. But I haven’t moved now in 15 years.

I’m 32.

Results are a little skewed because I’ve lived in my current house 6 years, and I lived in the first 18 years, so I was moving 1x/year in the middle. (Due to those middle years I am never moving again.)

32, as near as I can figure. Military life, you know, followed by State Department.

Thanks Colibri.

MsWhatsit, I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few from early childhood too, I can definitely remember 19, so I told my son ‘at least 20’ but it could be as many as 22 or 23.

ETA. could people post their age as well so we can get an idea of frequency.

Counting places I’ve had mail delivered to (at some of which I was merely crashing rather than being a real residence) I’d say between 20 and 25. This includes 10 different cities or other localities in four countries. I’m 58.

At the age of 65, I’ve changed addresses at least 18 times.

I’m 48, lived at least 18 different addresses, but might have missed a few of 6 months or less.

Haven’t moved since 2003 and hope not to again for at least 20 years.

I turned 43 yesterday, and I’ve had 3.

Hope you enjoyed your birthday.

16 total - age 61

5 with parents (2 as infant, 3 that I remember)
2 in college
3 in army
6 on my own (since age 23)

Current address for 20 years.

14 . . . I think? Maybe 15? I’m 28. When I was younger we moved so often I’ve honestly lost track. The longest I’ve ever lived in one house is 5-6 years.

3 Permanent addresses (soon to be 4)
2 Additional if you count college
1 more additional if you count the apt I rented til I could find a house.

47 years old

Let’s see, I’m 35. It depends a little on what you mean by addresses, but I’ll just take it in the sense that I’ve lived and received mail there. A couple of these addresses are for communal housing for extended volunteer positions and things like that.

Two in Chicago.
Six in Evanston, IL.
One in Cambridge, MA.
Three in Budapest.
One in Scotland.
One in Wolverhampton, UK.
One in Slovenia.
Two in Croatia.

So, 17 it looks like.

30, and I’m 64. I actually have 2 memories from the apartment we lived in when I was born, which we moved from prior to my first birthday. I’ve been in my current location for 15 years, and that’s a record.

Lived in 1 place I can’t remember for I was a baby.
Lived at this location in one house until I was 12. Moved into a new house on the same lot and still live here now (at 20). I have 1 address at college for I have lived at the same dorm room for the past 2 years and am about to move back into the same room.
so 3

That’s pretty varied, all of the 20 or so places I’ve lived have been within 200 miles of each other and obviously all in the same country,( England).

I’m in my early 50s, and I counted 16.

Two with my parents (including one from birth to age 10 months)
College, which I counted as one even though I lived in three different dorms
8 apartments
1 rental house
4 owned houses
