I know a Doper in the Biblical sense quite regularly.

Just wondering though, when y’all meet up at Dopefests, do you refer to each other by your real names or SD handle? Silly question, I know 
I’ve met Cerowyn several times (including just last night, as a matter of fact), and I’ve had email coverations with a few other dopers.
Every once in a while, there’s talk of a JapanDope, but it never seems to materialize.
It varies, green_bladder. Most are called by their real names (if they reveal them, which is usually the case), while a few (and I seem to fall in this group) are most often addressed by screen name.
I have one degree of separation from Geobabe, although we’ve never met (which would be zero degrees, wouldn’t it? :)). I’ve met AnitaVacation three times.
I call Ringo by his real name, Beatle. Funny thing, people can call me by my screen name, and that is what my nieces and nephews call me, so I am used to it.
As for the reply to the OP, I had met 159 last time I updated my list, but that was a year and a half ago. I definitely don’t keep in touch with that many.
Wow. I can’t imagine how it must feel to meet a true, real-life friend from the board. I suppose I still believe everyone on the internet (except for me) is a serial killer.
I know a handful of Dopers in real life. My husband is one (JustPlainBryan, but does he really count? We were together loooooong before the boards came into our lives), a co-worker (Heloise), and a few of my closest friends (Edwardina, CelticCowboy, & Mercutio). I’ve been to several of the large dopefests, plus to many of the small ones in my area, and have met 100+ dopers. On top of that, I’ve stayed in the homes of a few dopers, plus have had invite-only dopefests here at my home.
I think, for the most part, that Dopers are pretty swell people.
I’ve never counted the number of Dopers I’ve met, but I’d guess it’s well over 100. In NYC, many of the Dopers have become friends “in real life.” I see two or three of 'em on a weekly basis (if not more often) and about a dozen or so on a monthly basis. That’s apart from events/gatherings that are announced in MPSIMS. Plus I’m about to cohabitate with a Doper. 
So, yeah, I’d recommend going to a Dopefest.

I don’t know any. Not real life, not email*, not im. If I do know any, I don’t know I know them.

AFAIK, I know/knew only one Doper IRL. We dated for some time in HS, and are now on quite bad terms–fortunately, we haven’t seen each other since graduation. Said Doper appears not to post here anymore, which is why I am cool with posting here now.
And no, I won’t tell you who it was.

Trust me on this one. Using this tactic I’ve met somewhere near 100. Some I’m closer to than others, just like any group.
As to the names/handles thing…
Well OpalCat is almost always Opal. I get called by my name and ‘Jonathan’ in about a 75/25 ratio.
You know, I can’t even imagine how many. I’ve been to Jonathan Chance’s for Halloween and MountainDope, and to NYDope 03, and there were about 40 Dopers at my wedding. There are about 20-30 MADs that we meet occasionally.
Biblically, just my husband Weirddave. My neice is also a member, Miss Magic 8Ball.
Some people I call by their real name, some by their screen name. Hamadryad is always her real name, Opal is about 50/50. Seems like everyone calls me Ginger or Gingy.
None. No e-mail or IMing also. Sad. Almost three years on the board also. The price of lurking.
My last year in college, I was surprised to discover there was another Doper living on my hall! I was really surprised, as my school was quite small, and this was a hall with only five rooms. But she was at one end, and I was at the other! She mostly lurks, so I didn’t really know her from the boards, although when she told me about a thread she had participated in once I remembered it.
I’ve been two DopeFests and flew out to meet another Doper - a quick guesstimate says about thirty.
There are some Dopers that I haven’t met yet that I am in frequent contact with - iampunha, TwistOfFate and CRorex spring to mind right away - people that I consider close friends and that pass the “work email addy” test. (Due to the time difference between Chicago and Dublin, I usually can catch Twisty a lot easier when I’m at work) I consider that knowing them in real life.
I’ve met an awful lot of Dopers; this is what happens when one goes to several NYC fests, among other things.
Renegade Librarian is one of my fraternity brothers. I also hang out with Eonwe, LaurAnge, matt_mcl, and Robot Arm on a regular basis. There are other dopers that I’m pretty close to, but they are pretty aware of who they are and I don’t see them as much as I’d like.
I introduced El Elvis Rojo to the boards, and we see each other all the time. By my count, I’ve met 14 people at Dopefests, some of whom I’ve met a few times and talked to at length, while others are vague memories at the opposite end of a table. I’ve IMed and e-mailed Lightnin’, and run into ScoobyTX at a Red Elvises show.
