I have no idea. I flew to California to meet several dopers in 1997 – http://tinyurl.com/jyug – and I’ve sort of kept up the habit since then. For some strange reason I hang out at Edward the Head’s house sometimes. Mostly because his cat Moe is nifty. Oh, and he has a Playstation!
…with dopers who still post?
I don’t know any Dopers in the biblical sense. It’s all I can do to look at me without screaming banshee-like, a shrill shriek of the mutilated to bruise the ears of a drunken sailor.
Oh I have made a small handful of really “close, personal friends” here. Folks I think are probably among the best friends I’ve ever had. Most recently I’ve gotten to know dantheman for example, and I’ll probably list him among my close buddies until I drive him, screaming, up the wall.
A few of the friends I’ve made live way too damned far away. Melis*, for example (KRFTMSTRSS or something like that back in the AOL days… she was one of the chat hosts… I don’t think she ever really made the transition to the web board) lives in California and though I’ve flown out to see her a few times, it’s rather cost prohibitive. (Though last time, we went to Disneyland! woohoo!)

Most folks call me Opal. It’s easier than “Katherine” and heck, I even use the name myself quite often. Like if I label something in my house, I’ll put “Opal” on it because it’s easier and shorter. Dang I’m such a nerd.

Goo is a Central Coast poster, but most of the NSW G’Dopefests are held in Sidders to my knowledge.
You could always pop on over to G’Dope if you wanted to find out about possible Doper Drunkfests. 
I only know two. I used to work with ed before I moved to NYC and he was the one who introduced me to to the SDMB. I just met Cosmopolitan IRL last week.
Cecil and I used to knock off liqour stores in the mid-80s, but he’s a real bitch about staying in touch.
I know d_redguy, for starters. Well enough to have married him, anyway.
And I know gmarkstephens. He doesn’t post often, but he’s at our house a whole lot.
I also know thaidog, although I’m not sure how I feel about that.
Ever wonder how many dopers you know, but don’t know their usernames or that they ARE dopers? There are so many, I figure I must know a few more…

Well I know Parallax, biblically, but that would be because we are married and all. He introduced me to the boards (big mistake on his part as I got pretty addicted)

They are a fun crew and we chat in email a lot as we made our own mailing list Are we cool or what? What?

I’ve probably met a couple of hundred fellow dopers. I’ve been going to fests sporadically for almost 3 years - I was a newbie of a couple of months when I went to my first big ChiDope. I see some of the ChiDopers fairly regularly, and tonight there is even a mini ChiDope for Cervaise and herownself, who are visiting Chicago. I’ve travelled for a few, and want to get to giant NYCMegaDope next year.
I’m also one of those whose SO is a doper, so there is no line between Dopeland and real life. We met at my first fest, saw each other at fests every so often, emailed every so often, and eventually got together almost a year and a half after we met.
Ok, I counted the other day.
