How Many facebook accounts do you have, and use?

I have three, one in my name and one in each dog’s name. I use mine for family and friends and one of the dogs’ to “like” different businesses and get coupons. I play bejeweled blitz with all three so I can send myself coins. How many do you have and use?

One. My cat has no need for Facebook. Because he’s a cat.

Facebook sells your information to third parties, and so I’ll not even participate to the point of going to other people’s sites on it. I value privacy, y’know.

I try to maintain anonymity on the internet, because I’m pretty opinionated, and I don’t want some prospective employer saying “This person said WHAT!” when they google my name.

I have 1 Facebook account, and I don’t even use that one. Try as I may, I just can’t get into it. I find the interface ugly and non intuitive, and I can’t work up the motivation to set anything up on it. I don’t play the stupid games, I don’t care to stay in contact with people from highschool, and if I want to contact family, well, I have a phone, and email still works.

I don’t get the allure of Facebook. It just seems like a lot of work for nothing. I’m willing to admit that I must be missing something. After all, millions of people are apparently hooked.

I have two facebook accounts.

One I made years ago, but logged into once and never used since. No idea of what my account was, password or anything.

And a second one I made more recently, which I made on the request of friends. I used it a tiny amount, then stopped using it.

Social networking just isn’t something that interests me at all. I don’t think I get it. I signed up to twitter, thought “what’s the point of this + how’s this supposed to work”, and then never used it again. I used myspace a little, but only cause I semi-liked a few of the games. But eventually I stopped using that too.

It’s not that I can’t be social online. I’m on quite a few forums, and I’ve played a few MMOs for years.
But stuff like myspace, facebook, twitter. I just can’t get into, and don’t really get.

I have two, technically, but I randomized the password and chose a now defunct email account for it, and then had it deactivated. So I have just the one.

I am thinking of getting another one so I can add people I’ve met online, without having to worry about it coming back an haunting me.

Why would anyone have more than one Facebook account? Serious question. I’m not entirely sure why anyone would have as many as one Facebook account, though I do in fact have one.

I have one and I use it regularly to keep in contact with family that I never got a chance to know when we were all younger.

have: one
use: zero

Presumably option 5 is none. From what I can glean, FB is mostly inane chatter that you’d try to avoid real life.

This. I got an account because a good friend insisted I get one, and now I have all these connections with distant family members that I’ve never known nor do I really want to. And they can see that I’m online and they pop in to chat.

The worst thing is I can’t really cut them off by de-friending them because I’ll get all kinds of grief about it from closer family.

Or you can just make yourself invisible so that they don’t know when you’re logged in.

I know what facebook is, but without the option for zero…

I used to have an account. I got sick of the glurge and the ultra-right-wing political BS and the stupid games/quizzes/silliness. So I quit. I don’t miss it. Nor did my friends, apparently - only one emailed me to find out if she’d offended me. She didn’t. She was one of the few I could tolerate.

Oh man, you mean I gotta LEARN something? I knew this was gonna be more trouble than it was worth.

Can you make yourself invisible to particular individuals, or is it more like a blanket on-off switch?

I have one that I use on a very regular basis. I’ve considered setting up one for my 4 year old daughter. It would have an email account that I would make up just for that use, it’s only friends would be relatives and very close friends, it would be as locked down as I could make it, there would be no comments whatsoever allowed on it and, of course, her real name wouldn’t be used on it anywhere.
The reason I thought about doing it is because my wife and I are divorced and have split custody of her. This way, we could both have the log in info for that page and could use to to share pictures between us and with family members (for example members of her family that I’m not Facebook friends with and vice versa).
But I never really felt like doing it. If I want my friends to see it, I’ll put it on my page, if I want her friends to see it, I’ll email or text it to her and she can do what she wants with it.

I dunno why, but I think it’s kind of funny to establish an alias for a 4 year old. Later, you can get her some phony ID to go along with it. Then some credit cards, and she’ll grow up ready to join the CIA. Or maybe an international assassination bureau. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish my cat knew she was a cat…I tell ya, she’s on Facebook all damn day, playing her “Mafia Wars” and “Farmville”. I’m lucky to even get a few minutes of my own computer anymore with her in the house.

To answer the question, a few–when you play apps it helps to have a few dupe accounts (the alternative is spamming the home feed and your friends with annoying requests–since I don’t like doing this but enjoy playing some of the games, I just use other accounts that I create).

So hopefully that answers Boyo Jim’s question, a little. I know some people who create 10, 20, 30 Facebook accounts, because a lot of games on there, these days, require one to “ask friends for help” if they want to advance in the game. So if one loves a game but has no other friends playing it, sucks for them. Again, I hate this feature of some of the games; the fact that you have to bother friends to play… so yeah, the alternative is to just do it yourself.

I have about 4 or 5 accounts.

OMG, Farmville… There’s too many mothherfuckin Farmvilles on motherfuckin’ Facebook.

The good friend who insisted I get a Facebook account to keep in touch, went all gaga over Farmville, and I got just endless notices of her growing virtual shit and buying and upgrading pretend tractors. And then got her daughter into it.

Fortunately, they both seem to have cooled off on the game, or maybe their crops failed or something.

Yeah, it can get very annoying with the notices and requests and home feed app-clogging. I don’t mind it, myself, because I have a lot of friends who play FB games and apps, but it’s not something I personally do because I never want to piss anyone off.

I know a few who are the same way, so they create a lot of accounts to level up and advance in the game (although I’m not one of them to go as far as some with making 10+ accounts–I have used my other four FB accounts in a similar fashion in the past).

These days “Frontierville” seems to have replaced “Farmville.” I’m sure in another few months it will be another ville game like Carville or Foodville or STDville…

This is too funny. I actually choked on my coffee.

THANK YOU for making me laugh
