How many members have to die before the SDMB admins ask you to be a mod?

I think it works like this:

When there is an opening for a mod, the current mods and admins will select one candidate for the position. That candidate then has 36 hours to submit an application.

Simple enough? Well, here’s where it gets tricky. The candidate is not notified in any way, but if said candidate does not apply within the 36 hours, said candidate is placed on the permanently ineligible list.

To further complicate things, if a non-candidate submits an application, that person is also placed on the permanently ineligible list.

And, of course, you do not talk about Mod Club.

Yeah, this concept has all the makings of a really dull murder mystery.

Or a comedy.

“Kind Hearts and Jackboots”.

Just in case anyone is getting ideas – the OP asked how many members would have to die, not how many mods.

*How many threads must a guest post in
Before you know they’re no fraud?
And how many posts must a Charter create
Before newbs are instantly awed?
Oh, how many members must a Doper outlive
Before you can call one a Mod?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
