How many non-UK Dopers like Marmite?

Yeah, I like marmite.

Glad to see I am not the only one to think it can be very useful to cook with: I thought it just possible that I was being weird in thinking so.

I’d reckon that anyone who buys Marmite out of a spirit of experiment, and finds it not to their taste will be able to regard it as a good sauce flavouring, if nothing else.

(Celyn who wil only ever actually eat it spread on anything very very occasionaly and only on certian types of sandwiches)

I’m American too, and I love Marmite. I slightly prefer it to Vegemite, but both are great.

By the way, UK and Australia (and NZ?) are not the only countries to try the yeast concertrate as condiment thing. In Switzerland they have something that tastes just like Vegemite, called Cenovis. They say that Swiss are born with a spoon of the stuff in their mouth! What I like best about it is it is that it has a slightly looser consistency, which makes it easier to spread on cold toast on a cold day.

Are you familiar with Twiglets then?

I can eat twiglets until I faint. Yum yum yum.

I buy them and my kids complain that they never get any of them. This is because I am bigger then them, and can fight them off.

Hey owl I’ll beat you to the Twiglets*. Folk round here folk think chocolates are a treat. Crap! Chocolate is for girls, we want Twiglets mmm…

I’ve never tried Vegemite - and don’t plan to defect, but can someone fill us in on the difference. And that Swiss stuff too?

*I may not be bigger than you but I’m guessing I can run faster, especially if Twiglets are at stake.
