How many of the IMDB Top 250 have you seen?

All of 8.

  1. How did I fall so behind? I need to get a tutor . . .

**Oldboy ** (#97) is quite the movie. Gut-wrenching is a good way to describe it. The first time I watched it, it drained me to the extent that I wasn’t sure I “enjoyed” it, although I knew I had just seen something effective and well-made. I bought the DVD about a year ago and have seen it again. I’m glad I did because the second time around I was able to better appreciate it. (Now I need to watch Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance again (same director) because I really hated that one and I’m thinking I might need to give it another shot)

**Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring ** (#249) is the only film of Ki-duk Kim’s that I liked. The rest of his stuff I’ve seen I thought was either so-so (3-Iron), barely tolerable (Samaria, The Isle), or downright repulsive (Bad Guy). But Spring… is quiet, contemplative, visually arresting, and subtly profound. Over time it probably won’t stay in the top 250, but catch it if you get a chance. I think an R1 DVD is soon to be released.

66, I don’t seem to be renting enough.

(Left one out)

Tae Guk Gi (#242) was a pretty good war drama. The story of two brothers conscripted to fight in the Korean war. Of course, the older feels responsible for the younger, the younger resents the special attention and the associated guilt. Lots of battlefield conflict as well as emotional conflict. A good mix, although I don’t give it the absolute raves that some others do. I did like it enough to buy the DVD.

I did preface my post with saying I might not recognize some of the foreign titled movies, this one brings me up to 83. And what a gorgeous movie it was.

25 :frowning:

  1. More than I thought.
  1. Currently have 72 on DVD. Damn budget, food, etc.
  1. Guess I have my work cut out for me.

Only 25. I don’t watch many movies.

As someone who once set out to watch the entire top 250, and succeeded, let me just say - some of them will not appeal to you. I enjoy watching movies simply for their own sake - and getting through the list was difficult.

Some of the 31 I haven’t seen on the current list, I will see, but many, I won’t.

I’ll go with 106, but as some have posted, there are another 10-15 on my Netflix queue. Is there anyone who doesn’t love netflix?

  1. I noticed that I own/have rented several of the movies and just never seen them.

55, and there are a few more I’ve seen as plays but not movies (e.g. Amadeus and Arsenic and Old Lace).

I’m probably not representative of the group, though, because I had to follow the link just to find out what the heck the “IMDB” was.

Too lazy to make an accurate count, but offhand I’d say I’ve seen all but ten or so.

85, which is especially pathetic because until recently I averaged 50 - 60 movies a year. Guess I just wound up watching a lot of stinkers…

I stopped counting at 70.

What’s scary is how many of the Bottom 100 I’ve seen - more than half.

144 !

hmm… Man, that leaves over a hundred!

The top rated movie I haven’t seen is City of God at no 18.
