Nearly 30, but the ski boots, winter boots, and hiking boots all end up in basement or the gear closet so I’m not overwhelmed with shoes.
Ski boots count…??
Oh god.
4 pairs of tennis shoes. One for general sloggery, one for non-court practice, one for dirty courts, and one for pristine club courts.
8 pairs of sandals, varying heel heights. Wait, 9 pairs, I need to count the water shoes.
2 pairs of tap shoes
2 pairs of sneakers (non tennis related)
2 pairs of hiking boots
1 pair cowboy boots
1 pair snow boots
4 pair other boots, varying heel heights
These are the ones that were easy to count because I just switched out my closet, i.e. winter boots for sandals, so the winter boots are now put away.
I have a bunch more shoes. Too many to count. Probably 200 pairs. But some of them are really old because I virtually never give up on a pair of shoes, ever. I have platform shoes from the '70s. I just don’t throw them out unless some puppy has chewed on them. (Most recent puppy is now 7 years old.) They might come back in style; if they don’t come back in style I might wear them anyway.
Imelda Marcos: “I did not have 3,000 pairs of shoes. I had 1,060.”
Me: Sounds reasonable.
Female, if you couldn’t guess.
Fake edit: Grr, I just re-remembered that that puppy chewed up my lug-soled Mary Janes, which I bought in like 1992 but I wore them ALL THE TIME, and the only thing close to a replacement these days is some $300 Fluevog. Which, no. He’s lucky he’s cute.
I wear my ski boots more often than dress shoes by far.
Male
two pair everyday athletic shoes
one pair heavy, leather, steel toed work boots
one pair steel toed rubber boot (Redwing brand)
one pair comfy insulated slippers / soft soled camp boots
one pair lightweight, mesh topped sneakers that perpetually live in my overnight bag
one pair black dress shoes that only see action for weddings and funerals
Reading these replies jogged my memory - I also have a pair of cowboy boots, a pair of golf shoes and a pair of ski boots. Before this accounting I never would have thought that I have 15 pair of shoes, since I only regularly wear 3-4.
Male.
1 pair of dress shoes, for weddings, funerals, job interviews, etc.
1 pair of sneakers.
2 pairs of work shoes (technically sneakers, but from a distance, they can pass for dress shoes.)
1 pair of bedroom slippers.
1 pair of semi-dressy cowboy boots that I haven’t worn in years. (And, since I developed arthritis in my ankles, I’m not even sure that I could get them on.)
1 pair of heavy work boots that I haven’t worn in years.
Total of 7 pairs.
I was wondering if there’d be the classic shoe-lovin’ woman chiming in. I know so many of those, including half of my family.
YOU are living the dream!
I’m waiting for “I spend most of my time on the beach near my shack, so no shoes, except a pair of sandals for getting into food stores.”
Ain’t that the truth.
Oh, lordy. Female, and I own:
1 pair skate shoes
1 pair light sneakers
1 pair glitter-covered chucks
4 pairs ballet flats in various colors
5 pairs of walking boots, ankle- and knee-height
1 pair nude runway heels
1 pair black runway heels
1 pair red runway heels
1 pair gold heeled sandals
1 pair siilver heeled sandals
1 pair tan heeled sandals
2 pair plain black Cuban-heeled pumps
2 pair men’s black dress loafers
1 pair black work boots
1 pair ballroom heels (suede soles)
1 pair flamenco heels (patent leather soles)
2 pair tap shoes (heeled and flat)
1 pair men’s tango shoes
1 pair hip-hop sneakers
7 pair ballet slippers
And I’ve probably forgotten a bunch. A not-insignificant number of these can only be worn on a dance studio floor, however. I wear all of them at one time or another, as being dressed appropriately for events and performances is part of my job.
I’m female and own three pairs of shoes.
One is for working, one is for dress, and the third is a pair of athletic shoes. All are solid black.
lady here.
My work inventory:
Three pairs of Gucci loafers
One pair of Manolo Blahnik loafers (I’m actually afraid to wear these shoes, they were so expensive I don’t enjoy them).
One pair of Joan & David loafers
Six pairs of Bass loafers
Four pairs of Oxford-style laceups (mostly Bass)
Play shoes:
Three pairs of Bean buffalo hide loafers
Two pairs of slip on mics (REI)
One pair of Nikes (tongues ripped out by puppy)
One pair of LL Bean snowboots
One pair of police-style boots
Two pairs of Skecher workboots
Male. I own one pair of tennis shoes for always. One pair of burkenstocks for checking the mail. One pair of dust-covered ‘nice’ shoes for never. And pair of dust-buried fallen-apart tennis shoes that I should have thrown out years ago and will never wear again and shouldn’t be mentioning here except I’m a pedant.
Female.
1 pair sneakers for daily use
1 pair slippers
2 pairs snow boots, one high, one low
1 pair hiking boots
1 pair sandals
3 pair dress boots
1 pair ski boots
1 pair paddock boots
1 pair dressage boots
I have winter boots and three pair of regular shoes one for wearing, one the old pair for gardening in and one for when the current pair is good only for gardening. It has been in a box, unworn, for a year, but I think the current pair is getting old. I reheel them once and then, when those are worn down, I discard them into the garden and throw away the previous gardening shoes.
Male:
1 pair of blue Adidas sneakers
1 pair of black Caterpillar boots
1 pair of black Clarks dress shoes
1 pair of red combat boots (for reserves)
Sundry flip-flops
I don’t see the need for more shoes - one pair of sneakers for day-to-day use, one pair of boots for bad weather and hiking, and one pair of nice shoes for special occasions. If a pair gets old, I replace it. I don’t need spares.
Two. Brahma work boots for long-distance walking, and 15-year old thrift shop Adidas for walking in the mall and around the neighborhood.
3 pair cowboy boots (1 brown, 1 black 1 dress)
2 pair harness style boots (1 black, 1 brown)
1 pair composite toe safety boots
1 pair winter boots
2 pair cross trainers
2 pair Birkenstock sandals
1 pair dress shoes
12 pairs of shoes
Crap, forgot my hunting/hiking boots. 16 pair - 75% of them for specialized, infrequent use.
